🗳️ Election 2023: Your Vote, Your Voice! Quick Guide to Colorado Ballot
Election 2023: Your Quick Guide
Election Day: November 7, 2023
Statewide Measures:
Proposition II: Allows the state to use excess revenue from tobacco and nicotine taxes (approximately $23.7 million) to support Colorado’s universal preschool program. If rejected, the surplus will be returned to wholesalers, and tax rates will be reduced. Click for an explainer on this topic.
Proposition HH: A very complex, 10-year property tax relief plan that limits property tax increases, potentially redirecting billions to schools and local agencies. It also alters taxpayer refunds and modifies local government spending. Read details here.
Local Elections:
Coloradans will vote on various local ballot initiatives, school board members, and municipal races.

Join in what they say will be an engaging event where ideas about fixing our democracy, including open primaries and ranked choice voting, will be discussed. The purpose is to come together to make all voices heard and explore ways to enhance our democratic processes.
🚧 Alternate Routes Still Cause Delays from Deadly Train Derailment off I-25
The tragic train derailment between Colorado Springs and Pueblo is still significantly impacting travel on Interstate 25. Multiple train cars carrying coal derailed, obstructing both the rail tracks and the interstate lanes.
The northbound lanes of I-25 were particularly affected, with damaged rail cars blocking the roadway. The incident resulted in one fatality as the train crashed onto a passing semi-truck.
Detours are still in effect. Travelers heading south are redirected onto Old Pueblo Rd and Colorado 47, while those traveling north are advised to use Highway 50 westward, connecting with Highway 115 through Penrose before rejoining I-25 in Colorado Springs.
These alternative routes are expected to cause delays and increased traffic congestion. Emergency crews are working diligently to clear the debris and ensure the safety of the area, although there is no definitive timeline provided for the cleanup efforts.
The National Transportation Safety Board is set to investigate the incident, emphasizing the seriousness of the situation and its ongoing impact on regional travel.

😌Altitude Recovery Secrets Unveiled: Unlock the Benefits of Rest!
Prioritize rest and recovery to optimize your high-altitude experience in Colorado Springs. Taking time to rest is just as important as staying active, as it allows your body to recover, repair, and adapt to the demands of high-altitude living. Here are some tips to help you embrace rest and recovery:
Quality Sleep: Although it may seem impossible most nights, try to aim for 7-9 hours of quality sleep each night. Create a relaxing bedtime routine, minimize screen time before bed, and ensure your sleep environment is comfortable and conducive to rest.
Active Recovery: Incorporate gentle activities like yoga, stretching, or leisurely walks on your rest days. These low-intensity movements promote blood flow, reduce muscle soreness, and enhance overall recovery.
Listen to Your Body: Pay attention to any signs of fatigue, muscle soreness, or excessive stress. Adjust your workout intensity or take an extra rest day if needed. Remember, it's okay to give your body the rest it deserves.
Hydration and Nutrition: Even during rest days, maintain proper hydration and nourishment. Drink water throughout the day and fuel your body with nutrient-rich foods that support recovery and repair.
Stress Management: Engage in activities that help you manage stress, such as meditation, deep breathing exercises, or hobbies you enjoy. Managing stress contributes to overall well-being and aids in the recovery process.
By incorporating these rest and recovery strategies, you'll optimize your body's ability to adapt to the high-altitude environment, reduce the risk of burnout, and enhance your overall enjoyment of Colorado Springs' wonders and everyday life.
