π« Alert: Dangerous Vaping Incident at Local Middle School!
Three students from a Colorado Springs middle school were rushed to the hospital after reportedly vaping highly-concentrated marijuana this past week.
School officials and emergency responders swiftly addressed the situation, with three students receiving medical care and five others treated at school in District 11. It remains unclear whether the vaping occurred before or after classes started.
Parents and guardians, it's crucial to talk to kids about the dangers of vaping to keep them safe and informed. District 11 and most schools have strict rules against vaping, and breaking these rules can lead to serious consequences, including suspension and worseβ¦ We all want to keep the children safe as what they do today will shape their (and societyβs) future.

We understand the challenges, and we're here to provide you with practical tips to keep your diet on track even when you're not cooking at home.
1. Navigate Menus Wisely:
Tip: Look for keywords like grilled, baked, steamed, or roasted. These indicate healthier cooking methods.
Why: These methods often involve less oil and unhealthy fats, keeping your meal lower in calories and saturated fats.
2. Choose Healthier Options:
Tip: Opt for lean protein sources such as grilled chicken, fish, or tofu. Load your plate with colorful vegetables.
Why: Lean proteins build muscles, while veggies provide essential vitamins and minerals, making your meal both satisfying and nutritious.
3. Mind Your Portions:
Tip: Request half portions or share a meal if the servings are large. Listen to your bodyβs hunger cues to avoid overeating.
Why: Controlling portion sizes prevents excessive calorie intake, helping you maintain a healthy weight.
4. Discover Nutritious Restaurants:
Tip: Use food apps or websites to find local restaurants with healthy menu options and positive reviews.
Why: Choosing eateries known for nutritious choices makes it easier to pick meals aligned with your health goals.
5. Hydrate Right:
Tip: Drink water, herbal teas, or unsweetened beverages over sugary sodas or calorie-laden drinks.
Why: Proper hydration supports overall well-being and aids digestion, keeping you refreshed throughout the day.
6. Embrace Whole Grains:
Tip: Opt for whole-grain bread, pasta, or brown rice when available.
Why: Whole grains offer more fiber and nutrients, promoting digestive health and providing sustained energy.

π₯ Baked Sweet Potato Fries
Recipe provided by eating bird food
Satisfy your craving for fries with healthy baked sweet potato fries that are actually crispy! Perfect for serving alongside a burger or sandwich. Perfect for Game Day too!
Prep Time 10 mins | Cook Time 40 mins | Total Time 50 mins
Ingredients
2 medium - large sweet potato cut into thin slices (about 1/4 inch)
2 Tablespoons avocado or olive oil
1 Tablespoon arrowroot powder or cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon pepper
sea salt to taste (added after baking)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 425Β°F and line a large baking sheet with parchment.
Place sweet potato slices into a large bowl and toss with oil, arrowroot powder, garlic powder and pepper.
Spread the fries onto your prepared baking sheet, making sure the fries aren't crowded. You may find that you need to use two baking sheets. The fries can't be crowded or else they will start to steam and get soft rather than crispy.
Bake for 15 minutes, take them out of the oven and flip, then bake for another 15-20 minutes.
Keep an eye on them the last 5 minutes as some of the smaller pieces might start to burn.
