She emphasizes the need for stringent legislation and enforcement to prevent such incidents, vowing to fulfill her mother's last wish despite the ordeal.
Winter Chills, Higher Bills: Colorado Springs Utility Proposes Rate Hike! βοΈπ‘
Colorado Springs Utilities
Colorado Springs Utilities has proposed a base rate increase effective January, citing rising energy demands during colder months and global uncertainties. Residential rates may rise by 3%, adding $8.03 to average monthly bills, while commercial and industrial customers could see 2.4% and 4.3% increases, respectively. Despite concerns about geopolitical tensions, council members are cautiously supportive, noting the utility's role in maintaining stability amid global crises. A final vote on the rate hike is scheduled in three weeks.
π Update: From Tragedy to Triumph: The Q Shines Brighter Than Ever!
Update to our previous article in issue #012: Following the tragic mass shooting that took five lives in November 2022, Club Q, the LGBTQ+ nightclub in Colorado Springs, is set to reopen in a new location named βThe Qβ within the Satellite Hotel. The original venue wonβt reopen, but plans for a memorial dedicated to the victims are underway. Former employees are welcome to rejoin the new team.
In their announcement, Club Q's management emphasized that their reopening symbolizes resilience against hate, standing as a testament to the triumph of love over violence.
π¨ Gunfire Erupts at Intersection: One Critical, Suspect at Large!
A shooting incident occurred at the Powers and Constitution Street intersection in East Colorado Springs around 4 a.m. on Oct 24th, leaving one person critically injured. Initially believed to be a road rage incident, the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) later ruled it out. The victim sought help at a nearby Circle K, where an employee found him covered in blood, with his car bearing multiple gunshot wounds. The victim's blue Ford sedan was struck at least five times. Police are searching for the suspect, and the victim's identity remains undisclosed in this ongoing investigation.
π§Mindful Moments Series Part 3
Today, we're diving into Day 3's topic: Mindful Eating. Taking just 5 minutes each day to practice this can have a profound impact on your relationship with food and overall well-being.
π Savor the Moment: Embrace Mindful Eating for a Balanced Life!
In our fast-paced lives, we often rush through meals, eating on the go or while distracted by screens or thoughts. Mindful eating invites us to slow down, savor each bite, and truly connect with our food. By bringing conscious awareness to the act of eating, we can cultivate a healthier relationship with food, enhance digestion, and nourish our bodies and minds with gratitude. This practice allows us to fully enjoy the sensory experience of eating and make more mindful choices around food.
To practice this tip, find a quiet and comfortable place to sit down for a meal. Take a moment to appreciate the colors, aromas, and textures of your food. Before taking your first bite, pause and offer a moment of gratitude for the nourishment in front of you.
As you eat, bring your full attention to the flavors, textures, and sensations in your mouth. Chew slowly and savor each bite, noticing the subtle nuances of taste and the way your body responds to the nourishment. Be present in the experience, fully engaged with the act of eating.
If your mind wanders, gently guide it back to the present moment and the enjoyment of your meal. Notice any thoughts or emotions that arise without judgment, simply observing them and returning your focus to the present.
By incorporating mindful eating into your daily routine, you'll begin to develop a healthier relationship with food and a greater appreciation for the nourishment it provides.
Come back for tomorrow's tip, where we'll explore another exciting mindfulness practice that will help you enhance your well-being and find more joy in your everyday life!
