🎁 Unprecedented Impact: Telmosse' Giveaway Sets Record

The 41st Annual Bob Telmosse' Christmas Giveaway, a cherished holiday tradition, reached unprecedented success this year, benefitting 2,400 children and 700 families with gifts, bicycles, and food. The event, held at the Colorado Springs Event Center, set records by distributing over 900 bicycles and nearly 600 food bags.

We extend heartfelt thanks to our dedicated readers who volunteered and contributed to this remarkable achievement.

🎄 Broadmoor's Holiday Spectacle

The Broadmoor dazzles with a million lights, 20 Christmas trees, and a gingerBOAT in its record-breaking holiday display. Detailed preparations, including months of outdoor decorating and a multiple week interior transformation, culminate in a festive spectacle.

The annual gingerbread creation, a delectable tradition, showcases a replica of a historic boat. The public is invited to enjoy the magical ambiance until Dec 21, with exclusive access afterward for hotel guests and event attendees. Locals are encouraged to experience the full holiday charm by attending the show or staying at The Broadmoor.

🛰️ Colorado Springs Shines: Space Command at Full Power

Colorado Springs officials and federal figures celebrate the achievement of full operational capacity by U.S. Space Command at Peterson Space Force Base. The milestone, following a controversial relocation decision, underscores our city's pivotal role in national security and defense efforts. Leaders commend the rapid attainment of operational capability, emphasizing the city's strategic importance and robust aerospace industry.

🚨 Shelter-in-Place Resolved: Suspect in Custody

A suspect has been apprehended following a shelter-in-place order issued yesterday for a neighborhood south of the Colorado Springs Airport. The El Paso County Sheriff's Office responded to a menacing call in the 4400 block of Villager Drive, prompting the activation of their tactical support group. Residents were urged to stay indoors just after 5 p.m. while law enforcement addressed the situation. The Sheriff's Office has confirmed the suspect's arrest, allowing residents to resume normal activities.

🕊️ Candidly Christmas: Understanding the Unseen

As Christmas is just a week away, it's crucial to recognize the signs of holiday depression, a quiet struggle that often goes unnoticed amid the festive fervor. Sometimes, individuals may express a willingness to "skip" the holidays, preferring to navigate this season in solitude. While some find solace in stepping back from festivities, it's equally important to check in on them, ensuring their choice stems from a place of comfort rather than isolation.

Holiday depression can manifest, like any other form of depression, through changes in mood, withdrawal from social activities, and an enduring sense of hopelessness. It can be triggered by various factors, such as unrealistic expectations, financial stress, loneliness, or the absence of loved ones. This understanding lays the foundation for the crucial conversations we'll delve into throughout this series.

Tomorrow, we'll explore the impact of loneliness during the holidays and share practical strategies for fostering connections and support.
