🎉 Crowning Glory: Air Force Grad Wins Miss America 2024

Miss Colorado, Madison Marsh, is crowned 2024 Miss America - From Miss America

Colorado Springs is celebrating the victory of one of its own as Madison Marsh, a 22-year-old graduate of the United States Air Force Academy, secures the title at the 2024 Miss America competition held in Florida. Marsh not only brings home the crown but also makes history by becoming the first active-duty service member to be crowned Miss America.

Marsh, a 2nd Lieutenant in the Air Force with a degree in physics, has a remarkable background. Among other amazing accomplishments at a young age, she founded the Whitney Marsh Foundation with her family after her mother's passing from pancreatic cancer in 2018. As the president and founder, Marsh and her team have raised over a quarter million dollars for pancreatic cancer research.

Her multifaceted achievements and commitment to making a difference make her a source of pride for Colorado Springs! We can’t wait to see the impact she makes over the years. Congratulations Madison…all of us in Colorado Springs are so proud of you!

🚧 Traffic Alert: South Academy Detours Wed & Thurs

The Military Access, Mobility & Safety Improvement Project is progressing with the South Academy Boulevard Widening Project, impacting traffic on January 17-18 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. The construction site spans the southern mile and a half of South Academy Boulevard, extending from the I-25 interchange to Milton Proby Parkway. Focused on enhancing mobility and safety, the project includes widening the road, improving drainage, adding lighting, modifying merge lanes, and incorporating sound walls and bridgework.

Westbound travel on South Academy Boulevard faces a detour between US 85 and I-25 over Fountain Creek. Two eastbound lanes are accessible, utilizing a single westbound lane on the eastbound bridge over Fountain Creek. Speed limits on the detour are reduced to 35 MPH, with specific restrictions for oversize loads on the bridge. Ongoing closures include the westbound South Academy Boulevard bridge for scour bridge investigation and countermeasures.

⛔ Elm Avenue Shut as Crews Tackle Water Main Break

Elm Avenue in south Colorado Springs is temporarily closed, spanning from Old Broadmoor Road to 1st Street, due to a water main break. Colorado Springs Utilities crews are on-site working to address the issue, and the duration of the closure remains unknown at this time. Motorists are urged to adhere to traffic signs and crew instructions for safety.

🍴 Craving Balance? Join Our 5-Day Emotional Eating Challenge

It was a stupid idea, but we still did it. She is sitting in a bathrobe in working jacuzzi and eating one of the cheapest instant noodles you can find in the store. On the oppotite wall there is actually a TV with international news on.

Break Free from Dieting 🍏

Ever feel that familiar urge to seek comfort in late-night snacks? We get it. Emotional eating can take over our normally good judgement. This leads us to the dieting mindset which often leads to a cycle of hope, followed by disappointment. However, there's a way to navigate it with compassion. Join us on a 5-day challenge to embrace intuitive eating and foster a healthier connection with food.

Understanding the Frustration:

Diets typically promise quick fixes and instant results. However, our bodies are unique, and what works for one person might not work for another. The rigid rules of diets can create feelings of deprivation, triggering cravings and, ultimately, frustration. It's a common struggle that many of us face.

The Outcome of Breaking Free:

Deleting diet apps, unsubscribing from restrictive newsletters, and shifting your focus to how foods make you feel might seem like small steps, but they lead to significant outcomes. By breaking free from the dieting mindset, you're allowing your body to guide you. This shift cultivates a sense of empowerment and self-trust.

What to Expect:

  • Reduced frustration and guilt associated with rigid diets.

  • Improved awareness of your body's unique signals and needs.

  • A more positive and compassionate relationship with food.

Remember, this 5-day journey is about progress, not perfection. Each step you take toward intuitive eating is a step toward a healthier, frustration-free you. Stay tuned for tomorrow's tip as we continue this empowering challenge! 🌟
