A Dream Realized ✨
Established in July 2022, Mastiff Studios Makers Market is the creation of Amy Brown, an art teacher and artist with a passion for creating a community space for local makers. The name "Mastiff Studios" holds a special significance – it pays homage to her beloved rescue dog that Amy welcomed into her life many years ago. Although her Mastiff has since passed, her memory and spirit live on in the heart of the studio, symbolizing loyalty, strength, and the unbreakable bond between a creator and their muse.
A Heartwarming Community 🤝
What sets Mastiff Studios Makers Market apart is its warm and inviting atmosphere. Visitors are greeted with friendly smiles and a gracious welcome, making each trip to the market a truly special experience. The market's commitment to the community is also evident through its support for the El Paso County Canine Rescue, reflecting Amy's dedication to giving back and creating a space that goes beyond being just a small market.

🤝 Shape Change: Join CSBG Advisory Board to Aid El Paso's Low-Income Residents
The El Paso County Board of Commissioners invites individuals to volunteer for the El Paso County Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) Advisory Board, aiming to fill a vacancy by January 31, 2024. This advisory board actively engages in shaping the CSBG program's development, planning, implementation, and evaluation in El Paso County.
The role involves making recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners on optimal CSBG fund utilization to support low-income residents. Comprising nine members with three-year terms, the board, currently meeting quarterly online, seeks a representative from the 'Public Elected Official' sector. Interested individuals can access the volunteer application and submit completed applications to the Board of El Paso County Commissioners.
👮♂️ Join LETAC: Shape Police Relations
The Colorado Springs City Council is actively looking for community members to join the Law Enforcement Transparency and Advisory Commission (LETAC), established in June 2020. The commission plays a vital role in fostering better understanding and relationships between the public and the Colorado Springs Police Department. Meetings are held twice a month, and applicants must be residents of the City of Colorado Springs. Those interested can apply online or submit their applications and resumes via email or mail. For more information contact Michael Montgomery at [email protected]
🚿 Thaw Alert: Burst Pipes Surge
After a harsh cold spell, Colorado Springs contends with a rise in burst pipes, prompting over 20 responses from the Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD), even dealing with an incident at their headquarters. The extreme cold caused freezing and subsequent cracking of pipes across the city. Local plumbers emphasize the importance of residents knowing the location of main water shut-off valves. Be vigilant as warmer weather approaches, anticipating issues during the thaw. CSFD echoes the call for preparedness amid the surge in pipe-related incidents.

🍇 Embrace Food Neutrality - Unlock Balance in Your Choices 🗝️
Day 3 of our Emotional Eating Challenge! Today's focus is on embracing food neutrality, a key step in fostering a balanced and harmonious relationship with nourishment, specifically addressing emotional and stress eating.
Understanding Food Neutrality:
Instead of labeling food as "good" or "bad," embrace the idea that all foods can coexist in a balanced diet. When we remove the moral value attached to what we eat, we free ourselves from feelings of deprivation, reducing the likelihood of turning to food for emotional comfort.
Why It Matters for Emotional and Stress Eating:
Reduced Cravings: Removing labels reduces the allure of forbidden foods, minimizing cravings triggered by emotions.
Less Guilt: Enjoying a slice of cake is as guilt-free as savoring a piece of fruit when we view them neutrally, reducing emotional guilt.
Empowered Choices: A neutral approach empowers you to make food choices based on nourishment and satisfaction, not dictated by external judgments, especially during stress.
Practical Tip:
Practice viewing all foods as part of a balanced diet. Whether it's a sweet treat or a nutritious meal, approach each with a neutral mindset contributing to a healthier, more balanced relationship with food during times of emotional and stress triggers.
Stay tuned for tomorrow's tip as we continue this empowering journey toward understanding and handling our emotional eating episodes!
