🆘 Urgent Pantry Plea: Need Help Now
Colorado Springs food pantries, like Solid Rock, face a shortage of donations post-holiday season. Despite high demand, the dwindling supply challenges staff to meet the usual two-day provisions, providing only a day's worth. With a decline in post-holiday contributions, individuals relying on these services find themselves navigating multiple pantries to sustain their weekly meals. As available food is expected to diminish by this morning, the community is urged to contribute and support Solid Rock's mission. Visit their website or call 719-393-7625 to see what they are needing and how you can help.
🏆 From Octagon to COS Hometown: Raquel's Grand Welcome
Raquel Pennington, a Harrison High School alumna, achieved a significant milestone by claiming the UFC women's bantamweight championship, defeating Mayra Bueno Silva. The victory marked the realization of years of relentless effort and dedication. Returning to Colorado Springs, Pennington was greeted by a heartwarming reception at the airport, where over 100 well-wishers celebrated her triumph. Expressing gratitude, she acknowledged the profound impact of 14 years of hard work that led her to this victorious moment.
📚 Sand Creek Library Doors Swing Back Open
Sand Creek Library will reopen today after a temporary closure due to sewage issues. The library, located at South Academy Blvd. and Chelton Rd., had faced similar problems in the past. Users were redirected to alternative branches during the closure, including Ruth Holley Library and downtown's Penrose Library (FYI, this branch will temporary close starting Feb 1st while undergoing safety upgrades.)

⚡ Tesla's Shocking Legacy in COS
Did you know that In 1899, the illustrious inventor Nikola Tesla set up his Experimental Station in our city, leveraging the high altitude for his pioneering wireless power experiments. His work, including the creation of artificial lightning, was so intense it once caused a power outage across town! Despite lasting just nine months and leaving amid unpaid debts and legal woes, Tesla's Colorado Springs research underpins today's wireless technologies.
His lab, once perched on a hill near East Kiowa St and North Foote Ave, is gone, but a plaque in Memorial Park commemorates the site where Tesla's work had a lasting impact on electrical engineering and wireless communication. Tesla's ambitious pursuit of wireless power continues to resonate, exemplifying Colorado Springs' role in the history of innovation.
🎭 Unmasking the Culprits of Adrenal Fatigue
Welcome back to our Adrenal Fatigue series! Today, we're shedding light on the various factors that contribute to adrenal fatigue, providing you with insights to reflect on in your daily life. Identification is the first step to possibly modifying the impact in your own health.
Daily Stressors:
Understand how the demands of modern life, work pressures, and personal challenges can elevate stress levels and impact your adrenal glands.
Take a moment to consider your own stressors and explore ways to manage and reduce them for improved well-being. 🧘♂️
Inadequate Sleep:
Sleep plays an essential role in adrenal health and insufficient rest can disrupt hormone production, potentially leading to persistent fatigue. 🛌
Reflect on your own sleep habits and try small adjustments to enhance the quality of your sleep such as powering down electronics an hour before sleep if possible, use relaxing sounds to help quiet the mind as you drift off, etc. 🌙
Nutritional Influences:
Dietary choices, including excessive stimulants or nutrient-poor foods, can affect adrenal function and energy levels.
Take a glance at your own dietary habits and consider incorporating more nourishing, whole foods to support adrenal health. 🥗
Lack of Physical Activity:
There is a relationship between physical activity and adrenal function, recognize how a sedentary lifestyle may contribute to imbalances. 🏃♀️
Reflect on your daily activity levels and find simple ways to introduce more movement into your routine. It could be as simple as parking further away to get more steps in. Use the stairs instead of an elevator. Even dancing a little while cooking…be creative. 🚶♂️
As we uncovered these culprits, consider this information as a resource to enhance your understanding of adrenal health.
Stay tuned for more insights and practical tips in the next few days, each installment bringing you closer to optimal well-being. Your journey towards better health is a continuous exploration! 🤗
