๐Ÿค” Community Divided Over Sober Living Home

A nonprofit organization, Hope is Alive, is set to establish a new sober living home on Pacific Crest Dr, in the Banning Lewis Ranch neighborhood, prompting concerns among neighbors about potential disturbances to the area's tranquility and property values. Despite reservations from residents, Hope is Alive's CEO, Lance Lang, underscores the stringent screening process for prospective residents, emphasizing their commitment to excluding individuals with violent or criminal backgrounds.

Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) encountered challenges battling a house fire on Sorrento Drive on March 22nd, due to hoarding conditions inside the residence. Responding to heavy smoke emanating from the home, firefighters found cluttered interiors, which posed significant risks during firefighting operations, including entanglement, navigation difficulties, and obstruction in locating the source of the fire.

Despite the hurdles, firefighters successfully rescued a dog from the premises and treated one individual for minor injuries at the scene. The fire, determined to have originated from a fireplace, is deemed accidental. The incident underscores the importance of safety considerations regarding cluttered environments in emergency situations, urging homeowners to rethink the amount of "stuff" present in their homes to facilitate swift and safe evacuation in case of unforeseen emergencies.

๐Ÿฐ Springs Rescue Mission's Easter Feast

Springs Rescue Mission (SRM) is organizing its annual Easter celebration to provide a special meal for homeless and hungry in Colorado Springs. Scheduled for Thursday, March 28, 11 AM - 1 PM at the SRM dining hall on 5 West Las Vegas St, the event welcomes all community members and features a menu of maple-glazed ham, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, and dessert, accompanied by live music and care packages.

The Easter banquet, a testament to SRM's commitment to serving the community, is made possible through the generous support of donors and dedicated volunteers who assist in meal preparation and serving. With last year's Easter event accommodating over 400 guests, SRM anticipates a similar turnout this year. For information and how you can help, visit springsrescuemission.org.
