🚧 Austin Bluffs Traffic Alert! Water Valve Project Underway

Started yesterday, the 2nd phase of the water valve replacement project by Colorado Springs Utilities leads to traffic delays and temporary water outages at Academy & Austin Bluffs. The project, which aims to enhance local water reliability, follows a major outage and involves strategic valve installations to allow targeted shutoffs. Motorists should expect lane closures in all directions and plan for extra commuting time. Two 72-hour water outages are scheduled, affecting a small number of customers, with provisions in place to mitigate inconvenience.

🛰️ Space Symposium Highlights U.S. Defense

At the 39th Space Symposium in Colorado Springs, the U.S. Space Force highlighted its collaboration with commercial partners to boost space capabilities and deterrence strategies. Discussions covered the management of space traffic and the importance of maintaining communication satellites. The symposium underscored the urgency of maintaining U.S. leadership in space as global competitors develop counter-space capabilities. Read Full Story

🏥 Ombudsman: Advocating for Care

Did you know that an Ombudsmen, provided by local Area Agencies on Aging, are advocates who visit long-term care facilities to monitor and improve the quality of care. They help resolve issues ranging from simple daily concerns to serious cases like abuse, ensuring that the residents' welfare and rights are prioritized. These advocates are instrumental in situations where the care process is confusing or inadequate, assisting families in navigating care options and intervening when necessary. Facilities must display contact information for reaching the ombudsman, who serves at no cost to the residents. More resources at Pikes Peak Area Agency On Aging.
