πΎ Unleash Fun: Antlers Dog Park Grand Opening
Antlers Dog Park, a fresh addition to downtown Colorado Springs, is gearing up for its grand opening this Thursday, May 16th at 4:30pm. This innovative park, a part of the Downtown Historic Parks Master Plan, boasts separate zones for small and large dogs, synthetic turf, and various amenities. The park's design prioritizes inclusivity, with ADA-compliant features and accessible pathways.
The project received funding from voter approval of ballot issue 2B in November 2019, ensuring the park's completion. The ribbon-cutting ceremony, open to the public, promises giveaways and a chance for dogs and owners to enjoy the festivities.
π Racing on the Edge: Pikes Peak Safety Preps
Preparations are underway at Monster Motors Hot Rod Garage for the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, famed for its perilous course. Led by safety chief Judd Werner, the team fine-tunes trucks equipped to respond swiftly to emergencies during the race. The event, known for its treacherous terrain and past fatalities, demands meticulous planning.
Veterans and first responders collaborate and the safety team, comprising trained EMTs, remains vigilant, ready to safeguard racers navigating the daunting mountain track. The event, set for June 23, underscores the dedication of those committed to racer safety.
π§ S Academy Construction: Navigate Delays
Road closures and lane shifts will occur on Bradley Rd and South Academy for the Military Access, Mobility & Safety Improvement Project. Expect closures on May 14-15 and lane reductions on May 17-18, impacting eastbound and westbound Bradley Rd traffic. Additional closures and lane shifts are planned, including a northbound US 85/87 lane closure under South Academy and a temporary on-ramp shift.
