🥂 Date Night? Girls Night? Hillside Gardens Has You Covered
🎵 Enjoy Music, Friends, and Scenic Beauty
Step into Hillside Gardens and you're instantly transported to a peaceful oasis that feels miles away from the stresses of daily life. For over 20 years, this four-acre garden paradise has been a beloved Colorado Springs destination, and now, under the fresh perspective of siblings Donavan and Ashlee Kennedy, it's blossoming in exciting new ways.
Fueled by a passion for their hometown and a desire to cultivate community, the Kennedys are adding their own unique touches to the venue. Every Wednesday from May through October, Hillside Gardens transforms into a mini music festival! Three stages come alive with diverse musical acts, ensuring there's a rhythm for every soul. Each stage boasts a distinct vibe and a selection of local food trucks, allowing guests to wander and discover new favorites or settle into one spot for the evening – the garden's design ensures each area feels intimate and self-contained.
For plant lovers, the seasonal Garden Center, open daily through June 28 (exception, closed June 1, 2, 9, 10 & 15), is a must-visit. Browse a variety of annuals, perennials, hanging plants, and chat with knowledgeable staff, bringing their expertise from the dearly missed, Good Earth Garden Center.
With award-winning scenery, mountain vistas, and a laid-back atmosphere, Hillside Gardens is perfect for a relaxing day or evening. Enjoy live music, garden inspiration, a morning pick-me-up, or start planning your dream wedding or event against this picturesque backdrop.
Committed to sustainability, community, and creating a space both familiar and refreshingly new, Donavan and Ashlee warmly invite you to experience the magic of Hillside Gardens, an affordable, relaxing distraction from the moment you enter its welcoming gates.

🔥 Cimarron Auto Shop Fire Extinguished
A fire broke out at Mikey’s Total Car Care in Cimarron Hills early this morning. The Cimarron Hills Fire Department responded promptly to the scene at around 3:30 AM, with additional support from the Colorado Springs and Falcon fire departments. The collaborative effort helped extinguish the blaze by 4 AM. Details regarding the damage and the cause of the fire are still under investigation.
✈️ Thunderbirds Ready for USAFA Graduation
The Air Force Thunderbirds have landed at Peterson SFB ahead of their flyover and aerial display at the U.S. Air Force Academy's graduation ceremony on May 30. Practices, which include Olympian Missy Franklin, will occur on Wednesday (around 10:15am to 12:15pm) . Peterson SFB highlighted the honor of hosting the Thunderbirds and their role in inspiring graduating cadets. Locals are reminded to avoid stopping on roads to watch the flyover.

🎣 Fish for Free This Weekend!
Colorado Parks and Wildlife invites everyone to enjoy Free Fishing Weekend on June 1 and 2, allowing fishing without a license. While the license requirement is waived, all other fishing regulations apply. CPW offers helpful resources, including a fishing report, interactive maps, and stocking updates. Licenses, needed outside this weekend, are available at various locations and online.
🥫 Help Needed as Food Insecurity Rises
Care and Share Food Bank is facing a dual challenge of reduced federal funding and an increase in demand for food assistance in Southern Colorado. Funding has dropped from $14 million to $3 million after the end of COVID-related federal aid, at a time when an additional 25,000 Springs residents need food assistance. Care and Share is appealing for more community support, including donations and volunteers, to help address the growing need as economic pressures mount for local families.
