Recently relocated from Denver to Colorado Springs, Erin works with individuals and groups to unlock what words alone cannot express. In recognition of the 25th anniversary of Sept 11, Pikes Peak, America’s Mountain will offer free admission to first responders and military personnel this Friday.

Eligible visitors need to present a valid ID at the gateway, and both admission and the timed-entry permit fee will be waived. The uphill gate opens at 7:30am and closes at 5pm, the Summit Visitor Center closes at 6pm, and the downhill gate closes at 7pm. Visitors should check mountain and road conditions before leaving, as weather can change quickly.

The special day is intended to recognize the service and sacrifice of those who serve while commemorating an anniversary that remains deeply meaningful to our community and country.

Yvonne “Missy” Woods, a former Colorado Bureau of Investigation forensic scientist, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for misreporting DNA evidence in 53 criminal cases spanning 15 years. Those cases involved sexual assault of minors, robbery, and first-degree murder.

She pleaded guilty to four felonies including cybercrime, perjury, and forgery. The fallout has already cost $11 million in retesting and legal aid, and dozens of convictions are now under review. A hard look at what happens when the system that is supposed to protect us breaks from the inside.

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is closing out its Tails, Tunes & Tastes season on Thurs, Sept 24, from 6 to 9:30pm. The adults-only evening features chef-crafted small plates served throughout the Zoo, 2 included adult beverages, live performances from five local acts, animal demonstrations, keeper talks and access to most exhibits.

Guests can also feed the giraffes or ride the Sky Ride for an additional fee. The evening wraps in a little extra magic with the Zoo’s Centennial Drone Show, celebrating its 100th anniversary. This event is strictly 21+, IDs are required and tickets must be purchased in advance.
