Snooze Eatery is not trying to be the loudest breakfast spot in Colorado Springs. It is trying to be the warmest.

That feeling starts with Nathan Newman. After two decades in restaurants, this General Manager has figured out something a lot of people in his industry miss. A good breakfast is not only about the eggs, though theirs arrive golden, fluffy, and cooked exactly the way you asked. It is about being seen AND fed. Nathan learns your name, remembers your order, and treats regulars and first-timers with the same kindness. Walk in once, and you are considered family.

Then the food arrives. Generous portions, beautifully plated, and made from scratch with ingredients you can actually pronounce. The Benny Duos let you build your own perfect eggs benedict plate with fresh hollandaise. The Pineapple Upside Down Pancakes are the kind you find yourself telling your friends about later. There are no artificial dyes hiding in the corners of this menu, and the maple syrup is the real Vermont kind. It is comfort food the way it used to be.

Nathan's care shows up outside the restaurant too. Whether he is catering celebrations for Air Force Academy families, donating meals to local nonprofits, or opening his doors after hours for community gatherings without charging a venue fee, his heart is deeply rooted in Colorado Springs. This is not a chain going through the motions. It is a neighborhood spot where everybody deserves to feel like they belong.

The Salvation Army's Hope Market Pantry is running low, and right now there is a simple way to help. Their "Fill the Shelves, Share the Hope" food drive runs through Oct 9, and they are accepting donations of everyday shelf-stable items at 908 Yuma Street, Mon-Fri, 9am to 4pm.

They need items that fill a real kitchen: canned meats, pasta, rice, cereals, cooking oils, protein bars, and even hot chocolate or coffee. If it is shelf-stable and you would eat it, they can use it.

Colorado Springs Police has officially rolled out an AI call agent named S.A.R.A.H to handle non-emergency calls. She has been in testing since April, and during four test days totaling 54 hours, Sarah handled 49% of non-emergency calls without needing to pass them to a human.

Built on the Axon AI platform, Sarah asks callers about their situation, assesses damage, explains next steps, translates dozens of languages, and transcribes every call. Callers can still ask to speak with a real person at any time.

The goal: free up human call-takers so 911 calls get answered faster. Deputy Chief says removing non-emergency calls from their queue is the key. Full Story
