The other day I shared Francesca's message with you, and the responses I got back were heartwarming. So many of you wrote in about how her story was inspiring, and it reminded me why I do this newsletter in the first place.
Today I want to tell you about the woman who runs the actual leadership conference Francesca and every other RMYLF student goes through. Her name is Anja Wynne, and every dollar raised on Saturday night goes directly toward the program she leads.
Here is what I did not know until this week. Every year, without making a big deal about it, The Wynne Group (the family business Anja runs with her husband and kids) sets aside part of their charitable giving to buy two full tables at the Gala. Not because anyone asked, but because they genuinely believe in what happens inside that room.
This year Anja called me with an idea I did not see coming.
She said, "We always fill our tables with friends and colleagues, and this year I want to do something different. I want to fill them with people from our community who have never walked through that museum, who have never met one of our students, who have never seen what this program actually does. Give the seats to your readers."
So that is exactly what I’m doing.
The Wynne Group is opening 20 seats to Town Tidings readers, at no cost at a First Come First Served basis. Claim one for yourself, or grab up to two and bring someone with you.

Saturday night you will be inside the National Museum of World War II Aviation standing next to fully restored aircraft, eating catering from The Picnic Basket, trying WWI and WWII flight simulators, and sitting at a table with the students your seat is helping to fund. It is casual business attire, not black tie. I will be there in my signature jeans and a Town Tidings shirt, and I would genuinely love to meet you in person.
If you already know you want to be there and do not want to leave it to chance, or you want to bring more than two people, seats are still available for direct purchase at $75 each, and every dollar funds a local student's leadership week next summer.
Tomorrow I want to tell you about the moment at 8pm Saturday night that I think people are going to be talking about for a long time afterward. It is the kind of thing you cannot really experience anywhere else in Colorado.

💰 COS Tax Revenue Beats Projections
Colorado Springs received some encouraging financial news, with the city's latest update showing revenues coming in stronger than originally budgeted. That improvement is giving the city enough breathing room to consider eliminating its final employee furlough day of the year.
Mayor Yemi's administration is proposing to eliminate the scheduled Nov. 25 furlough, the day before Thanksgiving, at a cost of approximately $330,800. That would mean affected city employees would be paid for the day instead of taking it unpaid. Employees who have already made plans could still choose to use vacation time or take the day unpaid.
The furloughs were originally implemented to help address the city's 2026 budget shortfall, with most affected employees scheduled for five unpaid days this year and higher-paid employees scheduled for seven.
The proposal still needs City Council approval, and council members have expressed differing views on how the city should handle the final furlough. The city's 2027 proposed budget is scheduled to be released Oct. 5, which should provide a much clearer picture of the city's overall financial outlook. Full Story
