It’s open enrollment season, which makes this a good time to ask a question we don’t talk about enough: Even if you have health insurance, can you afford to actually use it?

Between monthly premiums, high deductibles, copays and services that aren’t covered, routine and preventive care can still feel out of reach. And with healthcare costs continuing to rise, simply renewing the same plan may not always be the best move.

Before you choose your coverage for 2027, look at what healthcare really cost you this year, not just your monthly premium. Add up your deductible, copays, prescriptions and other out-of-pocket expenses. Then look at what your plan is changing for next year.

Wild Birds Unlimited in Colorado Springs is looking for a Retail & Stock Associate who enjoys people, nature and hands-on work. The job includes helping customers choose bird food and feeders, receiving deliveries, organizing inventory, stocking shelves and loading purchases. Applicants need to be comfortable frequently lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, including bags of bird food and heavier items such as concrete birdbaths.
