The Inheritance You Leave Your Kids? Surprisingly Public
What you leave your kids doesn't stay private.
What you had. Who received it. Filed with a court, open to anyone.
But one asset stays off it. No bank, no brokerage, nobody to notify.
And the best part? You can buy it inside your retirement account, tax-deferred and penalty-free.

Permanent jewelry is like a tattoo's quieter cousin...
πstill a lifelong decision, but it doesn't scream 'midlife crisis' quite as loudly π€£

π₯° Why We Spotlight Local Businesses
Every Wednesday, we shine a light on the local entrepreneurs who make Colorado Springs vibrant and unique. When you support these featured businesses, you're investing in our neighbors' dreams and helping build a stronger community by creating jobs and keeping our city thriving. π€

β¨ The Bracelet She Never Takes Off

πΏ The strange reason she welded it shut...
There is something quietly powerful about catching your reflection and liking what you see, even on an ordinary Tuesday. A delicate chain at the wrist. A soft shimmer at the collarbone. Small things, really, but they whisper that you still matter.
Delicia Guild knows that feeling well. A wife, mother, and woman of faith here in Colorado Springs, she went through a season where she stopped recognizing the version of herself in the mirror. Life had asked a lot of her, and the little rituals that once made her feel polished had quietly slipped away.

Then she tried her first permanent bracelet. No clasp to fight with in the morning. No jewelry box to dig through. Just a beautifully fitted chain, welded gently in place, catching the light while she went about her day. She felt like herself again.
Because that small shift meant so much, Delicia built Guilded Grace Co. to pass the feeling on. She welds custom-fit bracelets, anklets, and necklaces designed to layer, stack, and live in. Her pop-ups and private appointments feel less like shopping and more like sitting across from a friend who truly sees you.
Book your session at GuildedGraceCo.square.site or follow along on Instagram. Your next favorite everyday ritual may be waiting there.

π§ Road Closure Starting Tomorrow

Courtesy of City of Colorado Springs
Jet Wing Dr at S Academy closes tomorrow through Sat, Oct 15-17 from 7am-5pm each day so crews can inspect a 50-plus-year-old sewer pipe as part of the S Academy Improvements Project. Nearby driveways stay open throughout the closure.
Reach Jet Wing Drive via Hancock Expressway (north detour) or Boychuk Ave to Hancock (south detour). Emergency access is coordinated with CSFD Station 11. This voter-approved PPRTA project marks the first major reconstruction of South Academy Boulevard since 1969.

π° Up to $17,500 for Local Eateries

A program called SPICE, run by nonprofit Exponential Impact, is pairing El Paso County restaurant owners with seasoned mentors and buying $3,000 to $17,500 in gift cards from participating restaurants. No loans, no strings. Those gift cards flow through local nonprofits back into the restaurants, bringing in new customers and real revenue.
Owners also join a 6-week cohort to tackle blind spots in marketing, accounting, and lease negotiation. Chef Eric Brenner of Red Gravy mentors in the program. Samantha Lang of Cacao Chemistry called her experience transformative. Applications close Nov 1.
β οΈ Is Someone Using Your Medicaid?

A Colorado Springs nonprofit is sounding the alarm about providers who may be draining Medicaid benefits from vulnerable community members without delivering real services. Homeward Pikes Peak CEO Beth Roalstad says clients have reported brief, unexplained contact with providers, then later learned their Medicaid coverage was already exhausted.
Local resident Shane Rodgers says he was taken advantage of by a caregiver whose organization billed through Medicaid. The Colorado Department of Health Care Policy and Financing (HCPF) has a webpage for reporting suspected fraud and does not share details of active investigations. Full Story
