Cities Are Running Out of Salt Before Winter Even Starts

Road salt is one of those things nobody thinks about until plow trucks come back empty, and this year that's happening before the first snowfall. Some cities haven't gotten a single bid for winter supply, while others are paying nearly double last year's price.
North America doesn't mine enough of its own, which is why it ships in 8 to 10 million tonnes from places like Egypt and Chile, two weeks away by boat.
Atlas Salt (TSXV: SALT | OTCQX: SALQF) is building a mine in Newfoundland near a deepwater port where ships can reach Boston in three days. With salt, the real cost is in shipping, and CEO Nolan Peterson says the difference is so big that overseas producers could give their salt away and still come out more expensive than Atlas. The project is shovel-ready and projected to generate roughly C$188 million a year in free cash flow.

I just saw an amazing episode of Bake-Off!
👉They went in with all buns glazing! 🤣

💪 103 Yr Old Rosie Still Making History

Colorado Springs' annual In Their Honor Veterans Parade returns tomorrow, Sat, Nov. 7, at 11am, bringing more than 100 organizations and approximately 3,000 participants to downtown Tejon.
This year's special tribute honors the women who supported America's military during World War II, with 103-year-old Wanda Daniels, a former aircraft riveter, leading roughly 250 local women dressed as Rosie the Riveter.
The parade will also feature veterans, active-duty service members from Fort Carson and the Space Force, Canadian military personnel stationed with NORAD, and military marching bands.
Adding to the tribute, 1,111 American flags honoring individual service members will line downtown medians through Nov. 11. The parade is free, offering families and neighbors a meaningful way to recognize those who have served. Full Story

🥾 Gliders Overhead on an Easy Creekside Trail
Good news: public access is back! As of Nov 2, the stretch of the New Santa Fe Trail heading north from the Edmonson Trailhead toward Ice Lake on the Air Force Academy grounds is open again.
It's a gentle, wide gravel trail, about 5 miles out and back (turn around whenever you like), with mountain views and Monument Creek beside you. The bonus? On a weekday morning you may spot Academy cadets learning to fly gliders as a tow plane pulls them into the sky. Our friend Heath at Colorado Fan Club saw lots of activity between 9 and 11 a.m.
Keep an eye out for deer, wild turkeys and even beavers, and think about this as you walk: before refrigerators, this area was harvested for blocks of ice! Leashed dogs are welcome. Stay on the marked trail corridor, and check current Academy access before you go.
📍 Edmonson Trailhead parking: 250 E. Woodmen Road. Head north from the trailhead. With highs in the mid-50s today and sunshine all weekend, it's a great time for it! ☀️
