πΈ Songbird Orchids: A Melodic Blend of Orchids, Seeds, and Community Connection
Nestled in Colorado Springs at 2204 W Colorado Ave, Songbird Orchids, owned by Julie and Adam Frost since January 2023, is a captivating blend where blooming orchids and bird seed blend a perfect melody.
Harmony of Backgrounds: From Music to Orchids
Julie, a musician turned business owner, and Adam, with a background in construction, found their rhythm in orchids. The shop, previously Island Orchids then Songbird and the Orchid, became their dream venture. Their diverse backgrounds create a dynamic partnership that shapes the unique character of the now, appropriately named, Songbird Orchids.
Blossoming Dreams and Blooms
Quality is the anthem of Songbird Orchids. Orchids sourced from family-owned farms in Hawaii and California offer the healthiest and most diverse selection in Southern Colorado.
The freshness extends to their wild bird seed by sourcing their ingredients from a company that shares their passion for providing healthy feed for wildlife, they ensure that their seed is of the highest quality. Then they hand-mix proprietary blends specially made for birds along the front range, with care. Customer testimonials speak volumes about the irresistible quality that keeps patrons coming back for more.
βSuch a lovely shop and employees! β¦Can't say enough good things about this place and there attention to detail! If your looking for orchids, houseplants, bird seed or gift baskets this is your place!β

π Spreading Joy: Join CSPD for the 35th Annual Toy Drive with Toys for Tots
Colorado Springs Police Department, in collaboration with Toys for Tots, is hosting its 35th Annual Toy Drive to ensure every family enjoys the holidays. Community members can contribute by donating new, unwrapped gifts for kids and teens at police substations, the Police Operations Center, or various Toys for Tots donation boxes.
In an additional effort, CSPD officers, as part of their daily routines, will identify and nominate families facing challenges in providing gifts for their children. This personalized approach enhances the impact of the Toy Drive, ensuring it reaches those who may need it the most.
For those looking for inspiration, a list of suggested items for donation includes a variety of toys, books, games, clothing, and accessories for both kids and teens. It's essential to note that all gifts must be new and unwrapped.
The initiative runs until December 18, 2023, offering multiple avenues for participation and spreading festive joy.
π Results will be posted in the upcoming Sunday issue. π

π Guard Your Gateway: Outdated Routers and the Risks They Pose
Your router plays a crucial role in connecting your devices to the internet, but if it's an aging model, it might be compromising your safety. The latest security standard, WPA3, introduced in 2018, ensures secure connections. If your router doesn't support WPA3, the next best option is WPA2-PSK AES. If your router falls short of these standards, it's time to consider an upgrade.
When shopping for a new router, consider your home's size, layout, the number of connected devices, and your internet speed. With numerous options available, choosing the right one can be tricky.
