๐ Property Tax Fix: ~$200 for Homeowners
New Colorado legislation offers property tax relief for 2023, replacing the defeated Proposition HH. Senate Bill 1, a one-year fix, decreases the state assessment rate and raises the deduction value, providing an estimated $200 savings per average homeowner.
๐ Deck the Halls: Volunteers Transform Ronald McDonald House
Volunteers decked the halls at Ronald McDonald House, on 4223 Royal Pine Drive yesterday, spreading holiday cheer to support families with hospitalized children at Children's Hospital Colorado. The initiative involves decorating eight Christmas trees in the 25,000-square-foot home, providing comfort and a festive atmosphere for families facing the stress of having a sick child. ๐ถ CSPD's Canine Caper: Stolen Pup Safe
Colorado Springs police officers successfully recover a stolen puppy, missing for two weeks, from Pet City at the Citadel Mall. Four teens were arrested, and the pup, a miniature Australian Shepherd, was unharmed and is now in the care of the Humane Society.
๐ Gas Station Attack: Clerk Injured, Robbers on the Run
Sunday, Nov 26th, in a daytime robbery at the Valero on the corner of South Nevada and St. Elmo in southwest Colorado Springs, a convenience store clerk became the victim of a violent attack. Two masked individuals, a man and a woman, entered the store around 10 a.m., assaulting the clerk with a tool and pepper spray.
Despite customers being present, the suspects proceeded to steal cash and various items before fleeing in a red vehicle. The clerk, sustaining a gash on their head and pepper spray effects, was hospitalized. Witnesses, hindered by the suspects' disguises, estimate their ages as in the 30s or 40s.
The police urge anyone with information to contact them or Crime Stoppers anonymously. Call the Colorado Springs Police Department at 719-444-7000 or Crime Stoppers at 719-634-STOP
๐ Cyber Alert: File Extensions Matter
Stay vigilant when downloading files. Before opening downloaded PDF files, check for .pdf extensions. If the file you just downloaded is ending in .exe delete it immediately and DO NOT OPEN IT to avoid potential malware risks.
This is a โgood practiceโ whenever downloading any files from the internet. Check the extensions. Unless you intended to download an executable program file, anything with an .exe is bad news and needs to be deleted right away.

๐ง ๐ Navigating the Journey: Understanding Dementia and Alzheimer's
Dementia and Alzheimer's are intricate conditions impacting individuals and their loved ones profoundly. In this segment, we unravel the complexities, aiming to cultivate understanding for a more empathetic community.
๐ค Defining Dementia and Alzheimer's
Dementia signifies a decline in cognitive abilities affecting daily life, while Alzheimer's, the predominant form, gradually impairs memory, thinking, and behavior (60-80% of cases).
โ๏ธ Beyond the Diagnosis: A Ripple Effect
These conditions not only alter the lives of those diagnosed but also cast a substantial impact on caregivers, especially during the holiday season. The emotional and financial toll is significant.
๐บ Cultivating Compassion and Empathy
Understanding the nuances of dementia and Alzheimer's fosters compassion. It's vital to recognize that individuals are more than their conditions, each with a unique story, memories, and emotions which is why even though there are general symptoms, some techniques will work for some and not others. Or will work for that person one time and not again.
๐ Early Awareness for Better Tomorrow
Early detection is pivotal. Recognizing signs and symptoms enables timely medical support. Memory tests and screenings play a crucial role in this process.
๐ค Empathy in Action ๐ค
Our staff, touched by personal caregiving experiences with advanced Alzheimer's, underscores society's readiness for the growing prevalence of this disease. Through shared understanding, we aim to create a compassionate community, making a meaningful impact on the lives of those affected by dementia.
