✈️ Training Day: "Air Force One" in Colorado Springs
Reports emerged of a plane with presidential markings landing near the Colorado Springs Airport around 4 p.m. on Monday, sparking curiosity among locals. Although resembling "Air Force One," the aircraft was part of the presidential fleet undergoing training, with President Biden absent. Meanwhile, Biden remained at the White House, engaged in official meetings with the King of Jordan.
🚧 Road Closure Alert: Barnes Rd. Under Repair
Barnes Rd. will undergo a week-long closure, between Antelope Dr. and Marksheffel Rd. for significant underground utility work which started yesterday. Motorists should anticipate delays and plan alternate routes. Detours are in place: drivers along Peterson Rd. will be rerouted to Stetson Hills Blvd. or Carefree Cir. to access Marksheffel Rd., while those aiming for businesses along Barnes Rd. should take Antelope Ridge Dr.
📋 Input Wanted: Fishers Canyon Open Space Plans
The Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Services department are initiating public engagement for the future Master and Management Plan of Fishers Canyon Open Space. Located in the southwest foothills borders Cheyenne Mountain State Park to the south, the Broadmoor Bluffs neighborhood to the east and the Pike National Forest to the west. Acquired in 2021 and spanning nearly 343 acres, the space was purchased for $4.2 million with TOPS funds and a $1.25 million grant.
The public survey, beginning on February 23, aims to gather community feedback to shape the space while preserving its natural beauty and ecological balance. Currently closed to the public, Fishers Canyon Open Space awaits trail system development and management planning. A significant fire mitigation project was conducted in December 2022 to mitigate wildfire risks in the area.

🚒 Deadly Collision: CSPD Investigates
Early morning yesterday, members of the Colorado Springs Police Department, Falcon Division, rushed to the intersection of Dublin Blvd and Vincent Dr following reports of a single-vehicle rollover crash. Witnesses had already extracted the lone occupant from the vehicle and initiated CPR. Despite efforts from emergency responders, including the Colorado Springs Fire Department and AMR, the driver didn't survive. Given the severity of the crash, the Major Crash Team was called to take over the investigation as the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
