👉 They’re filled with common cents 🤣
📵 Fort Carson's Major Move: Limiting After-Hours Work
Maj. Gen. David S. Doyle of the 4th Infantry Division at Fort Carson introduces a policy prohibiting work-related communication after duty hours, offering soldiers a reprieve from constant connectivity. The initiative follows feedback from soldiers seeking better work-life balance and clearer communication practices. Violations may lead to disciplinary actions, but the policy aims to enhance mission focus and reduce unnecessary stress on soldiers and their families.
😟 Healthcare Contract Showdown: Patients in Limbo
CommonSpirit Health and Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield face a looming contract deadline, with negotiations ongoing until 11:59 PM today. If unresolved, 20 hospitals and care centers, including Penrose Hospital and St. Francis hospitals in Colorado Springs, may no longer accept Anthem insurance, potentially affecting tens of thousands of patients.
Both parties are negotiating terms, citing cost concerns and the need for sustainable reimbursement rates to maintain quality care, especially in rural areas. We will have to wait and see what the outcome is in the next few days.
🚧 Lane Closures on Garden of the Gods Rd
Garden of the Gods Rd is experiencing lane closures due to emergency repairs on a wastewater main, announced by Colorado Springs Utilities. The closures affect multiple eastbound through lanes and turn lanes between North Chestnut Street and the Village Inn. While access to local businesses remains open, drivers should anticipate congestion. The closures are expected to last until Wednesday afternoon, and motorists are urged to exercise caution and watch for construction crews.
🚓 Grappler Tool Fighting Auto Theft Head-On
Colorado State Patrol (CSP) is utilizing the 'Grappler Police Bumper' tool to intercept suspects in stolen vehicles, as shown in recently released dashcam footage from Colorado Springs, contributing to the 75 documented instances since August 2021. This device enables law enforcement to safely bring fleeing vehicles to a controlled stop, reducing risks to the public, officers, and suspects. CSP has observed a decline in auto theft since 2023.
🤠 Trivia: COS Wild West Banking Rules
Banking in Colorado Springs in the late 1800s had a "peculiar character" - individuals could start a bank regardless of holdings or capital. This meant early private banks relied on community faith to entrust money. Test your knowledge of this distinct early banking era before 1930.
