ποΈ Governor Polis Signed 5 New Bills in Colorado Springs
Governor Polis visited Colorado Springs this past Saturday, to sign five new bills into law. At Mitchell High School, he signed three education-focused bills: HB24-1282 for ninth-grade success, SB24-164 for higher education transparency, and HB24-1076 for supporting military families' students.
At OCC Brewing, he signed SB24-231 to update liquor laws. Finally, at Colorado Early Colleges, he signed HB24-1154, which allows school districts to manage debt for charter school facilities with voter approval and priority debt recovery.
π€ Springs Neighbors Unite in New Initiative
The 1,000 Neighborhood Gatherings Initiative in Colorado Springs kicked off on Sat, May 18, aiming to strengthen community ties and address mental health by encouraging residents to host gatherings. Governor Polis and Mayor Mobolade attended several events, highlighting the importance of community connections. The initiative targets 1,000 gatherings by September 28, with 116 already registered. Residents can find more information and register their gatherings on the cityβs website.
π₯ CommonSpirit and Anthem Sign New Deal
CommonSpirit Health and Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield have signed a new five-year agreement following a period during which CommonSpirit was out-of-network for Anthem customers. Services received since May 1 will be covered at in-network benefit levels, preventing unexpected costs for patients.
