๐ Pikes Peak United Way CEO to Depart
Cindy Aubrey will leave her role as president and CEO of Pikes Peak United Way after a decade, marked by substantial achievements including the creation of the Family Success Center and numerous community collaborations. Her leadership garnered multiple awards and widespread recognition. The Board of Directors is searching for her successor, and Aubrey plans to spend more time with her granddaughter.
๐ธ Summer Warning: DEA on Fentanyl Risks
As summer approaches, the DEA encourages parents and grandparents to talk to their children and grandchildren about the dangers of fentanyl. The Rocky Mountain Field Division is poised to surpass last year's record for fentanyl pill seizures, with nearly 1.8 million pills already confiscated in Colorado alone.
Fentanyl remains the leading cause of death among Americans aged 18 to 45. The DEA stresses the importance of raising awareness to prevent fatalities, noting that even small doses can be lethal. The agency calls on parents, grandparents, teachers, siblings, friends, and neighbors to participate in this vital conversation.
๐ฐ๏ธ New Interactive Exhibits at SFDC
The Space Foundation Discovery Center (SFDC) reopened on June 1 after a significant $3.5 million renovation. The updated center now boasts eight new exhibits, including the Drone Zone and the Boeing Additive Manufacturing Space Laboratory, alongside redesigned spaces like the Lockheed Martin Mars Robotics Laboratory. The renovations also include upgraded flooring, improved electrical systems, and murals by local artists Molly McClure and Juls Mendoza. Closed since November, the Discovery Center's updates reflect its ongoing mission to engage the community in the ever-evolving field of space exploration.
