🎁 Big Win: $25k Grant for Partners in Housing
Courtesy: First Interstate Bank
Partners in Housing, a nonprofit focused on providing transitional housing and supportive services to families facing homelessness, received a surprise $25,000 grant from First Interstate Bank on June 11. The grant is part of the bank’s "Believe in Local" initiative, which annually awards $25,000 to 40 nonprofits across 14 states. Chosen from over 550 nominations by regional bank employees, Partners in Housing will use the funds to support its 68 transitional housing units, crucial for helping families move from instability to self-sufficiency. The grant underscores the importance of community partnerships in strengthening local welfare.
🏔️ Have Your Say on Pikes Peak Outdoor Recreation Plan
The Pikes Peak Outdoor Recreation Alliance (PPORA) is approaching the final stages of the Outdoor Pikes Peak Initiative (OPPI), which aims to enhance outdoor recreation and conservation in the region. The plan, initiated in early 2022, focuses on maintaining Colorado's status as a top outdoor destination while protecting its natural resources.
Residents are invited to provide feedback during a series of listening sessions from June 17 to June 22, with additional virtual sessions on June 27. The sessions will review recommendations for preserving the region's land, water, and wildlife amid increasing recreational demand. Pre-registration for the sessions is available at OutdoorPikesPeakInitiative.org.

🔥 BBQ Fire Displaces Two Near Patty Jewett
A house fire occurred yesterday afternoon near the Patty Jewett Golf Course, displacing two individuals. The CSFD was called to Prospect St shortly after 5 pm. The fire, which was started by a barbecue grill, was quickly brought under control by 5:17 pm. Despite the swift response, the blaze caused damage to the home, particularly in the attic, rendering it temporarily uninhabitable for the residents.

🦵 The Secret to Knee Pain Relief
Knee pain, often caused by conditions like arthritis or meniscus tears, can be exacerbated by weak gluteal muscles. These muscles are essential for stabilizing the knee. Strengthening the glutes through targeted exercises can reduce the strain on the knee joint, offering a potential solution for chronic knee pain.
