🥕 Fresh Produce from Local Farms at Care and Share
The Care and Share Food Bank, southern Colorado’s largest, has launched a new initiative to source fresh produce directly from local farmers through the "Food Purchase Assistance Program." This program allows fruits and vegetables to go straight to the food bank’s pantries and stores, like the Sunny Side Market. Their CEO emphasized the importance of this connection for both farmers and those served by the food bank. The continuation of this initiative relies on the extension of the federal program by Congress.
🏗️ Arrowswest Rezoning Approved Amid Debate
This past Tuesday, Colorado Springs City Council has approved the re-zoning of land for the controversial Arrowswest apartment complex, developed by Weidner Apartment Homes to be built near the intersection of Garden of the Gods Road and North 30th Street next to Red Leg Brewing Company. The decision follows extensive community debate over potential violations of the Hillside Overlay ordinance and concerns about wildfire evacuation and traffic. City officials and Weidner clarified that the project complies with all relevant regulations and presented traffic studies indicating minimal impact. The council voted 6-2 in favor, allowing the project to proceed. Public comments segment of the meeting can be viewed here.

The platform offers assessments and information on over 200 topics, helping users identify their needs and connect with appropriate care. It does not diagnose or prescribe but directs individuals to the necessary support and emergency services. It's a one-stop shop for self-help resources that are confidential, anonymous, and available 24/7.
