💬 City Seeks Input on Homelessness Plan
Colorado Springs is enhancing its long-term homelessness response plan, reflecting resident concerns and community priorities. This revised plan outlines strategies to manage homelessness effectively and assigns clear roles and funding objectives to ensure homelessness remains brief, rare, and nonrecurring.
The city invites public feedback through meetings on August 15, both in-person and virtual, and a session specifically for businesses on August 13. These meetings will provide residents with opportunities to learn about the plan and contribute their insights. Registration for these events is available on the city's website.
🎸 Ford Amphitheater Opens Friday!
The time has come…Ford Amphitheater in Northern Colorado Springs is set to open this Friday after a successful soft launch attended by local leaders and music fans. The $90 million venue, a project by J.W. Roth of Venu, faced legal challenges but is now ready to host its first concert with One Republic, kicking off a season of 22 shows.
While the amphitheater is complete, additional work on a new event center will continue, with an opening planned for next spring. Roth has assured nearby residents of sound control measures, aiming to maintain community harmony. The venue is expected to bring over $102 million in annual economic benefits to Colorado Springs.
✏️ Urgent: Apply for Classroom Funds
Governor Polis has allocated $2.7 million to support teachers in purchasing classroom supplies, providing up to $600 per teacher. The funding, from the Governor’s Emergency Education Relief, aims to reduce the financial burden on educators who often pay for supplies themselves. Last year, this program benefited over 7,300 teachers. The funds are available on a first-come, first-served basis, so teachers should apply promptly.
If you are a teacher or know one, please forward this to them right now and encourage them to apply as soon as possible for the best chance of securing their funds.
