🏞️ Access Garden of the Gods During Construction
Starting Wed, Oct 16, a major waterline improvement project will start in Garden of the Gods, aimed at upgrading water infrastructure and enhancing accessibility. The project will continue through spring 2025, with occasional road and trail closures, though the park will remain open. Visitors should expect some disruptions, including temporary closures of Gateway Road and Parking Lot 4.
Portable restrooms will be available, and free shuttles will operate on select days to help ease access. City officials are committed to minimizing inconvenience and maintaining public access throughout the project.

🚧 What You Need to Know About Platte Ave Closures
Colorado Springs began removing the El Paso Street Bridge over Platte Ave, a structure damaged in 2021. Platte will be closed in both directions until Tues Oct 15, with detours in place. Westbound traffic will reroute via Hancock and Pikes Peak, while eastbound vehicles will detour through Wahsatch and Colorado.
Despite the road closures, pedestrian access on the Shooks Run Trail will remain unaffected, and residents in the area will still be able to reach their homes. The project is scheduled for completion by late Tues.
📬 Ballots Mailed—Are You Ready?
This past Friday, Colorado began mailing ballots for the 2024 General Election to all active, registered voters. If you're not yet registered or need to update your address, you have until Oct 28 to do so online to ensure your ballot is mailed. After that, any registration updates or ballot pickups must be done in person at a Voter Service and Polling Center. Oct 28 is also the last recommended day to return your ballot by mail—after that, drop it off in a secure ballot drop box.
Election Day is Nov 5, and ballots must be received by 7 pm to be counted. Click here for all El Paso County voting details.
🌪️ Struggling with Intrusive Thoughts? Try This
Intrusive thoughts and overthinking can feel overwhelming, trapping you in cycles of fear and anxiety. These thoughts, whether random or tied to deeper concerns, often feel impossible to shake. But the answer isn't to fight them—it's to step back. Cognitive diffusion, a mental technique that helps you observe your thoughts instead of getting entangled in them, offers a way to break free from these cycles.
This video will guide you through this powerful skill, (start 2 min in) showing how it can bring relief and help you reclaim your focus and energy. Watch now to learn how to look at your thoughts rather than through them.
