😷 Health Care Crisis Unfolding in COS

Health care in Colorado Springs is facing turbulent times, with two major systems, CommonSpirit Health and Peak Vista Community Health Centers, undergoing significant disruptions.
CommonSpirit’s abrupt closure of its vascular surgery clinic has left patients scrambling to find new doctors, many facing increased costs. Meanwhile, Peak Vista staff are pushing to unionize, alleging poor working conditions and deteriorating patient care. As federal grants hang in the balance and staff departures rise, our region's health care system is at a crossroads. With both organizations staying tight-lipped, the question remains: what will happen next? Full Story

🚧 Is Your Route Closed This Week? Find Out
If you're driving on I-25 between Colorado Springs and Fountain this week, prepare for more overnight closures. CDOT will close parts of the highway from Mon through Thurs night for repairs and drain installations. Northbound I-25 will be closed Mon night, with southbound closures happening through Thurs.
Additionally, lane shifts and full closures will occur on S Academy, disrupting traffic at multiple points. Travelers should plan ahead for detours, as both highways will be impacted between 8pm and 4:30am all week. Will this affect your commute? Full Story
👮Heartwarming Moment with CSPD Officer
This is a heartwarming story we just had to share. When Officer Craig Johnson responded to a call about a distressed 9-year-old who had run away from home, he knew that handling the situation with care was essential. Over 45 minutes, Johnson gently spoke with the child, reassuring them that they were not in trouble. Eventually, the child warmed up to him and even invited Johnson to the playground.
Sometimes you just need a friendly voice to talk things out, and Johnson provided exactly that. Thanks to his patience and calm demeanor, the child trusted him enough to go back home and get the help they needed. It’s moments like these that remind us how important compassion is in law enforcement. Kudos to Officer Johnson for going above and beyond! Video footage included by KKTV.

🎗️ Finding Courage After Chemo
As Breast Cancer Awareness Month wraps up, I’m sharing a personal video (one in a series I wish I’d had back in 2012 when I started my own journey. They are still relevant today.)
Whether you're going through treatments or know someone who is, this video is a source of hope and inspiration. It’s my way of passing along the insights and encouragement I didn’t have then, and desperately needed.
⚠ Warning, this video is raw and not pretty in spots but it’s 100% authentic.
