π§ Buckle Up: Long-Term Bridge Closure, Plan Your Route
Starting today, Oct 28, the Motor Way bridge will be closed for six months for a significant maintenance project. The bridge, which runs between S Nevada and S Tejon, will undergo repairs to improve safety and traffic flow. Work includes patching the bridge, installing a new deck overlay, and replacing approach slabs.
Motorists will need to access businesses and locations on Motor Way via S Tejon during the closure. The city has emphasized that these improvements will ensure smoother, safer travel for the future.

πΆ Toddler Found Alone at 2 AM β What Happened?
In a heart-stopping incident early Sunday morning, a 3-year-old boy was found wandering alone at a convenience store near Marksheffel and Dublin just before 2am. The child, barefoot and in pajamas. Police were called to the store and after a neighborhood search, were unable to locate his home. The boy was placed with the DHS as the search for his parents continued. Later that morning, police found the parents, who had been sleeping and unaware their son had left. No charges were filed, and the family has been reunited.
β³ Will El Paso County Lose This Life-Saving Program?
The future of El Paso Countyβs Community Response Team (CRT), which provides critical support for people experiencing mental health crises, is in jeopardy due to a looming funding shortage. The program, which sends a specialized team of a police officer, paramedic, and mental health clinician to 911 calls, is currently funded through a state grant set to expire at the end of June 2025. While the police officers are paid through general funds, the fire department and mental health clinicians rely on outside funding that has now run dry.
City leaders and mental health advocates are exploring new grant opportunities, but without sustained financial support, the community could lose this vital resource, leaving an already overburdened fire and police department to fill the gap. The Behavioral Health Administration is expected to announce new funding options soon, but the clock is ticking on a permanent solution. Full Story
