❄️ Snow & Gusts Ahead: Here’s What to Expect

Here we go again! Southern Colorado is in for another snowy day today as a Winter Storm Warning remains active until early Saturday morning. Snowfall will be on and off throughout the day, sometimes heavy, accompanied by winds gusting up to 40 mph, which could lead to low visibility.

Expect temperatures to range from a low of 23° to a high of 34°. If travel is necessary, prepare for hazardous conditions, or stay warm indoors if possible. By Saturday, weather conditions should begin to improve, making way for safer travel.

Also, in response to snow forecasts, City of Colorado Springs offices, including the Municipal Court, will open at 10 am on today, Nov 8. Mountain Metro and Metro Mobility bus services are also delayed, with possible service cancellations if the weather worsens. City snowplows continue to clear roads, so please give them space and drive carefully.

🎖️ Veterans Day: Closures & Parade Info

Colorado Springs will observe Veterans Day on Mon, Nov 11, by closing many city offices and facilities, including the City Administration Building, the Pioneers Museum, and local community centers.

However, a few spots, like cemeteries, the Sertich Ice Center, and both Patty Jewett and Valley Hi Golf Courses, will remain open. Active and retired military members can also enjoy free access to the Pikes Peak Highway on Monday.

The city will kick off celebrations early with the "In Their Honor" Veterans Day Parade tomorrow, Nov 9, at NOON downtown. This parade is open to all, with convenient parking available in city garages.

👅 Why Food Suddenly Tastes Weird

Experiencing food that tastes unexpectedly metallic, bitter, or just plain strange? Dysgeusia is a temporary taste distortion that can make even bland foods unpalatable. It can be triggered by several factors, including medication, post-viral effects, or medical conditions like hypothyroidism.

Fortunately, there are some simple tips to help manage it: stay hydrated, keep up with oral hygiene, and try experimenting with new textures and flavors. With a few adjustments, it’s often possible to get through the symptoms while waiting for taste buds to return to normal. Full Story
