In a heartwarming Veterans Day ceremony, local veterans were honored with handmade “Quilts of Valor,” presented by the Mount Carmel Quilters. This nationwide tradition began when founder Katherine Roberts envisioned quilts comforting soldiers in need, leading to the creation of Quilts of Valor in 2003.
Each quilt, carefully crafted by the quilters from El Paso County, Pueblo, and south-central Colorado, represents love, gratitude, and respect for the sacrifices veterans have made. Those wishing to contribute materials for future quilts can visit QOVF.org, joining in a community-wide expression of thanks and support. Full Story

🚐 Colorado Springs to the Slopes–Stress-Free
This ski season, Colorado Springs locals can skip the traffic and ride to the slopes with ease, thanks to Rocky Mountain Ride. The shuttle service provides regular, round-trip rides to popular ski resorts like Monarch Mountain, Breckenridge, and Keystone, with routes that avoid the often-congested I-70. Operating every Fri-Mon through April, the service starts at $69, departing early each morning and returning in the afternoon.
For groups, Rocky Mountain Ride also offers private shuttles to additional destinations like Copper Mountain and Vail, complete with flexible schedules and stops. It's an ideal way to experience the mountains without the hassle of driving.

⛸️ Holiday Skating Returns Downtown
Skate in the Park is bringing holiday cheer to downtown Colorado Springs again as it reopens for its 12th season at Acacia Park this Fri, Nov 15. To celebrate the rink’s opening, the city will host a Holiday Celebration featuring festive tree lightings, photos with Santa, live music, and a performance by U.S. Figure Skating.
Skating will continue through Jan 31, with additional themed events, including a night with the Colorado College Hockey team and a free “Learn to Skate” session. Tickets are available at the rink on the day of skating, with discounts for young children, first responders, and military members.
🎺 TRIVIA: Step Back in Time to Old Colorado Springs
Did you know that Colorado Springs has a rich musical history, dating back to the late 19th century? One of the city's earliest musical groups, the Midland Band, was formed in 1889 by twelve Colorado Midland Railroad employees.

Now, imagine yourself transported back in time to an evening in one of Colorado Springs' charming parks. Perhaps you're at Acacia, Bancroft, or Stratton Park, finding a seat amongst the crowd gathered to hear the Midland Band. 🎵 The air fills with the sounds of brass and woodwinds, performing everything from popular marches to classical pieces.

Although pictures are scarce, historical accounts tell us they often performed in Ute attire, adding a unique visual to their performances. Close your eyes and you can almost hear the music drifting through the air, captivating audiences of the era. *Source
