⚠️Massive Carrot Recall—Check Your Fridge!🥕
An E. coli outbreak has been connected to organic carrots from Grimmway Farms, leading to a recall of baby and whole bagged carrots sold under various brand names like Trader Joe’s, Sprouts, and Wegmans. These carrots may still be in your home, with best-by dates ranging from early Sept to mid-Nov.
The outbreak has affected 39 people across 18 states including Colorado, with 15 hospitalizations and 1 fatality. Symptoms of E. coli can include stomach cramps, diarrhea, vomiting, and dehydration, with severe cases requiring medical care.
If you have these carrots, discard them immediately or return them to the store. Be sure to clean any surfaces or utensils that may have touched them to prevent further contamination.

This unexpected closure has stranded many patients, some requiring urgent medication, and has raised concerns about healthcare reliability. The clinic is also embroiled in a lawsuit for unpaid rent, with a court hearing set for Nov 25. Patients are left seeking alternative care options as the situation unfolds. Full Story

📝 Apply Now: Rental Aid Closing
Colorado's Temporary Rental Assistance program is offering a crucial opportunity for residents struggling with rent payments or facing eviction. The Department of Local Affairs requires a pre-application, with recipients selected randomly. Assistance is capped at seven months of rent or $10,000. To qualify, residents must meet income limits, have a valid lease, and not have received similar aid in the past 12 months. Prioritization is given to those facing eviction. The deadline to apply is tomorrow, Wed Nov 20 at 5pm, so immediate action is needed.
📜TRIVIA: Would You Have Qualified to Live in 1871 Colorado Springs?
Pikes Peak Ave, ca. 1872
Did you know that Colorado Springs began in 1871 with a remarkably strict vision? Civil War general William Jackson Palmer didn't just plan a city - he envisioned a utopia where residents had to be of "good moral character and strict temperance habits" just to purchase property!
This fascinating social experiment included wide, tree-lined streets (requiring 5,000 young cottonwoods), irrigation canals to create a green oasis, and most notably, property deeds that completely prohibited alcohol - quite a contrast to today's thriving brewery scene. As Palmer's vision took shape, a historic moment occurred at what would become one of downtown's most prominent intersections. *Source
