๐ Record Travel Expected This Week
This Thanksgiving holiday is expected to see record-breaking travel numbers, with over 80 million Americans planning their holiday journeys. Road travel remains the most popular choice, though air travel has jumped 10% from last year. AAA recommends early morning travel Monday through Wednesday (although there may be weather/snow coming in the area, so keep an eye on the forecast) for the smoothest experience, while cautioning against afternoon travel and Friday morning returns. ๐ CSFD Team Helps Homeless Find Hope
Colorado Springs Fire Department's four-person Homeless Outreach Program is working tirelessly to help those experiencing homelessness, providing supplies and connecting people with resources. With an increasing number of seniors on the streets, Mayor Yemi's plan to expand the program could help reach more people in need. The team focuses on supporting those ready to make positive changes in their lives. Full Story
๐ History Made: Switchbacks Take the Title
Our very own, Colorado Springs Switchbacks delivered a historic victory, defeating Rhode Island 3-0 to claim their first-ever USL Championship title this past weekend. Goals from Juan Tejada, Jairo Henriquez, and Ronaldo Damus, along with key saves by goalkeeper Christian Herrera, led to a dominant performance in front of a sellout crowd at Weidner Field. This win capped their 10th anniversary season and continued their perfect postseason record at home since 2021. The Switchbacksโ victory ended Rhode Islandโs hopes of a first-year championship and marked a proud moment for Colorado Springs fans.

๐จ Hallfords Plead Guilty, but What Comes Next?
In a long-awaited update to the shocking Return to Nature Funeral Home scandal, co-owners Jon and Carie Hallford, pleaded guilty to state charges of corpse abuse during a hearing this past Friday. The couple admitted to improperly storing nearly 200 bodies, a revelation that deeply affected grieving families last year. This plea comes after their earlier admission of federal fraud charges, including misuse of pandemic relief funds.
The Hallfords now await sentencing, with federal penalties scheduled for March 2025 and state sentencing in April. The plea agreement limits their federal prison sentence to a maximum of 15 years, leaving families anxious for closure as they face the next phase of this legal process.
