🚧 Delays Ahead: Marksheffel Traffic Update
Work has begun on a major water main installation along Marksheffel Road, impacting traffic between Peterson Space Force Base’s east entrance and Drennan Road. The first phase runs now through early Jan 2025, with the entire project expected to conclude by 2026. Lane shifts and reduced speeds to 40 mph are in place, with occasional lane closures anticipated throughout the process.
🥶 Brrrr…it’s cold outside! |
🍂 How to Keep Thanksgiving Drama-Free
Nervous about tense Thanksgiving conversations? Family gatherings can sometimes stray into tricky territory, especially around topics like politics or spiritual beliefs. The key to navigating these moments is curiosity. Asking open-ended questions like, "Can you help me understand your perspective?" can help defuse tension and encourage meaningful dialogue.
Avoid "why" questions, as they may come across as confrontational, and look for ways to end on a positive note by finding common ground. If a discussion becomes too difficult, you can always redirect with, "I think we see this differently," and shift the focus back to gratitude and connection.
Remember, Thanksgiving is about giving thanks—not winning debates. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, Focus on the Family offers free mental health consultations at 1-855-771-HELP to provide guidance. Full Story
⚽ Switchbacks Fans, Here’s Your Celebration!
Good news, Switchbacks fans that replied to our article yesterday! The City of Colorado Springs has announced a victory rally to celebrate the team’s historic USL Championship win. After hearing from fans disappointed by the lack of a parade, the city has planned a memorable evening at Weidner Field on Dec 6, 5:30-7:30pm.
This rally is your chance to meet the coaches, take photos with the championship trophy, and shop for special championship merchandise. It’s a heartfelt response to the community's enthusiasm and a way to honor the Switchbacks for bringing home their first-ever championship trophy. Wow, it’s nice to know our voices are heard at times!
🦃TRIVIA: Did Colorado Springs' Turkeys Ever Wear Parkas?
If you've lived in Colorado Springs for any length of time, you know our Thanksgiving weather is as unpredictable as a turkey trying to predict its future? While this year's holiday storm threatens to impact travel plans it won’t be bone chilling cold. With the most extremes historical records show everything from a balmy 70-degree feast day to temperatures so frigid you could flash-freeze your pumpkin pie on the windowsill. *Source
