🥧 Tony’s Heartwarming Thanksgiving Gift
Tony Van-Beek has been quietly making Thanksgiving sweeter for southern Colorado families for years, but this season, he truly went above and beyond. Learning that the Salvation Army still needed 300 pies to complete their Thanksgiving meal distributions, Tony delivered all 300—along with whipped cream for a perfect holiday treat.
This marks Tony’s eighth year donating food to the Salvation Army, whose mission is to provide full Thanksgiving meals to families in need. While his incredible contribution helped meet their pie goal, the Salvation Army is always welcoming additional donations to continue their efforts in supporting the community. Full Story with Video

🥾 FREE Post-Thanksgiving Nature Escape
Tomorrow, step away from the holiday hustle and enjoy Colorado’s breathtaking outdoors for free. Fri, Nov 29, all Colorado state parks are offering free entry as part of “Fresh Air Friday.”
Local favorites like Cheyenne Mountain State Park (COS) and Mueller State Park (Divide), provide the perfect backdrop for creating new memories with loved ones, whether hiking, exploring, or simply soaking up the fresh air. Plus, state park visitor centers are offering 20% off most retail items that day.
Please note that visitor center hours may be limited due to the holiday, but rangers will be on-site to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone. Don’t miss this chance to reconnect with nature and find gratitude in Colorado’s beautiful landscapes.
🎄 Permits, Tips, & Tools for Holiday Tree-Cutting
Starting tomorrow, families can continue a beloved tradition of cutting your own Christmas tree in the Pike and San Isabel National Forests. For $20 per permit (limit five per household), this experience blends holiday cheer with forest health, as thinning helps wildlife and reduces wildfire risk.
Fourth graders with an Every Kid Outdoors pass can claim a free tree permit, though a small transaction fee applies. The season runs through mid-Dec in designated cutting areas like Rule Ridge near Divide.
Be prepared with a hand saw, gloves, sturdy boots, and winter weather gear. Remember to follow the Forest Service guidelines and purchase your permits online at recreation.gov. Plan ahead for a day of fresh air, snowy adventures, and unforgettable family memories. Click for details
