🧵 Unleash Your Inner Designer With Jessica
👗 Discover Premium Fabrics & Personalized Guidance at Vestina Vintage Studios
Imagine the joy of creating something beautiful with your own hands, guided by an expert who feels like an old friend. That's the experience awaiting you at Vestina Vintage Studios in Old Colorado City, brought to life by Jessica Alexander.
As a young girl, Jessica treasured visits to her great-grandmother, a skilled seamstress who lived far away. While the adults chatted, she'd lose herself in pattern books, dreaming of possibilities. Those dreams took root in her high school home economics class, where she made her first poodle skirt (remember those?!) and treasured pieces she still has to this day. Years later, fate led her to work at a high-end fabric store, where handling luxurious silks and fine wools transformed her perspective on craftsmanship. When that beloved shop closed, Jessica knew it was time to create something special of her own.
Today, her expanded studio in Old Colorado City offers something truly special: access to designer-quality materials rescued from fashion houses and mills. These unique pieces, unavailable anywhere else in the region, enable customers to create extraordinary garments while supporting sustainable fashion practices.
The studio has become more than just a shop - it's a gathering place where beginners find encouragement through hands-on workshops, and sewists discover inspiration in the carefully curated collection of independent patterns and premium materials. From custom clothing creation to private lessons, Jessica shares her 35 years of experience with genuine enthusiasm and patient guidance.
More than a store, it's a community where your ideas come to life. Visit Vestina Vintage Studios at 1704 W Colorado Ave. Open Tues through Sat, 10am- 5pm. To learn more about workshops or inquire about custom sewing, call 720-663-9314 or email [email protected]. Join Jessica and discover the joy of creating something truly unique.
🎭 Funky Little Theater Faces Uncertain Future After Lease Termination
Unexpected Notice Delivered
Funky Little Theater Company, a beloved small theater group in Colorado Springs, has received sudden news that their lease at the Westside Community Center will end on Dec 31, 2024. Delivered just days before their sold-out show at the center, the letter—given without explanation—left the company and its supporters shocked and without answers.
The Letter: No Cause Given
The termination letter, hand-delivered on Dec 3rd, cites the City of Colorado Springs' right to terminate notice but does not provide any reasoning. Funky Little Theater's leadership has yet to receive communication from the heads of the Westside Community Center.
What’s Next for Funky Little Theater?
The future is unclear, but supporters of this treasured entertainment group are hopeful it will find a new home. Their current run of performances at Palmer Lake is nearly sold out for Dec 20-21, and audiences are encouraged to grab remaining tickets while they last.
A Call to the Community
If you or someone you know can offer a venue or partnership in Colorado Springs, to keep the arts alive, please contact Chris Medina at [email protected]. This small but mighty theater group has brought creativity and joy to our community, and it deserves to keep its stage.

😨 Scammers Use AI to Clone Family Voices
A Colorado Springs mother experienced every parent’s nightmare when she received a phone call claiming her son had been kidnapped. The chilling part? The voice on the line sounded exactly like her child, crying for help. Scammers used advanced AI technology to clone his voice, making the fake kidnapping sound terrifyingly real.
Thankfully, her son was safe, but this type of scam is growing. Authorities recommend staying calm, asking to speak directly with the supposed victim, and attempting to reach them separately through another call, text, or social media. If you’re targeted, notify police as soon as possible and avoid giving money under pressure.
It’s a reminder to stay cautious. AI has made these scams more convincing, but awareness and quick thinking can stop them in their tracks. Full Story
