🐾 Thanksgiving Coyote Attack Update
Courtesy of CPW
The coyote connected to a Thanksgiving Day attack on a 4-year-old girl in Colorado Springs has been captured by Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW). The animal was identified through human DNA and evidence of human food in its stomach, pointing to illegal wildlife feeding as the root cause of its behavior.
The attack happened in the Monument Creek area when a child mistook the coyote for a dog. The animal attacked, causing serious injuries that required an overnight hospital stay. While CPW has “removed” the coyote to ensure community safety, they stress that feeding wildlife not only harms animals but creates dangers for humans.
Residents are urged to follow safety tips like supervising children and pets, not leaving food outdoors, and using deterrents if coyotes are encountered. Living responsibly alongside wildlife helps prevent incidents like this from happening again. Full Story
🎄 500 El Paso County Families Share in Holiday Joy
Courtesy of KRDO
The Salvation Army brought holiday joy to 500 El Paso County families through its Angel Giving Tree Toy Distribution, where community members donated toys for nearly 1,500 children and teens. Yesterday, families lined up early to pick out gifts, easing the burden on parents like one who is a full-time student and mother of six, and expressed deep gratitude for the support.
Each year, the toy drive brings stories of relief and gratitude, reminding us of the power of kindness and community during the holiday season. Full Story
