🩺 Is Your Doctor Still Covered in 2025?
Starting Jan 1, 2025, patients with Humana Medicare Advantage plans in Colorado Springs will no longer have in-network access to CommonSpirit Health providers, including Penrose and Saint Francis hospitals. This change could mean significantly higher costs for non-emergency care, impacting patients who depend on familiar doctors and nurses for their health needs.
Apparently though, there are solutions. Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment runs from Jan 1 to Mar 31, 2025, giving affected patients a chance to switch to a plan that includes CommonSpirit providers. This is a critical opportunity for those who want to maintain continuity in their care. Click for details.

🚧 I-25 Ramp Closures To Know This Week
This week, drivers using I-25 near S Academy and Mesa Ridge Pkwy should prepare for several overnight closures between 7pm and 6am. Southbound ramps and lanes, including the off-ramp at Santa Fe and both ramps at Mesa Ridge, will be affected. Northbound traffic at Mesa Ridge will also see a right lane closure starting at 8pm.
These temporary closures are part of the Military Access, Mobility & Safety Improvement Project, aiming to improve safety and reduce congestion in the area. Motorists should drive cautiously through work zones and plan for potential delays.

🚑 Winter Safety Alert: Ice Danger
A close call at Quail Lake on Sat afternoon highlights the dangers of thin ice in Colorado Springs. An adult and two children fell into the icy water but managed to climb out before emergency responders arrived. Thankfully, they were unharmed but evaluated for injuries on-site.
The CSFD reminds residents that our region’s inconsistent winter temperatures make ice extremely unsafe. Even if it looks sturdy, the ice on local lakes and ponds often can’t support weight. Falling through into freezing water can quickly turn deadly.
This incident is a sobering reminder to stay off the ice and keep loved ones safe while enjoying winter’s beauty. Full Story
