Mish's talent for styling hair and makeup blossomed when she helped her cousin get ready for prom. The moment her cousin looked in the mirror after Mish styled her, tears streaming down her face, whispering, "I've never felt so beautiful!" Mish knew she’d found her calling.

Having felt judged in other salons, Mish envisioned a welcoming space for everyone, regardless of background or style. Thus, The Vibe Beauty Lounge opened—a place of positive energy and kindness.

🦥 A New Bundle of Joy at CMZoo

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is celebrating the arrival of a baby Hoffmann’s two-toed sloth, born on Dec 18 to first-time mom Aysan. With its big, dark eyes and tiny pinkish-brown face, the baby is already charming the zoo’s caretakers. The little one spends its days nursing and clinging to mom’s belly, occasionally sampling solid foods like plantain and zucchini.

The zoo team closely monitored the pregnancy through ultrasounds and x-rays, ensuring a smooth arrival for this precious addition. While mom and baby bond behind the scenes, proud dad Bosco and older sister Bean can be seen in other parts of the zoo. Stay tuned for updates on when the baby will make its public debut!

🍄 Healing or Out of Reach? City Council Psilocybin Debate

Psilocybin, a hallucinogen derived from certain mushrooms, has been a game-changer for some veterans, who found relief from deep-seated trauma and suicidal thoughts. However, a recent Colorado Springs City Council decision imposes strict zoning rules, requiring healing centers to be located a mile away from schools, daycares, and rehab facilities. This effectively restricts access for many residents, despite growing evidence of psilocybin’s therapeutic potential. While advocates argue for its ability to save lives, the council cites caution and the need for further research. With costs already high and access now limited, many hope this decision will be revisited to better support those in need. Full Story

🥾 A Bittersweet Climb to the Summit

The AdAmAn Club completed their annual New Year’s hike up Pikes Peak with a heartfelt twist this year. In memory of Luke Stark, a young man who had joined the group as a guest hiker with his father who is a member. Luke was on track to become a member himself, before his untimely passing, the club posthumously added him to their roster. They also welcomed his sister, Rachael Stark, as a new member.

Rachael made the climb in honor of her brother and their father, carrying Luke’s hat as a personal tribute. The two-day ascent ended with the club’s traditional fireworks display, celebrating the arrival of the New Year and paying homage to Luke’s legacy. Full Story
