🚧 Traffic Alert: Gas Leak Detour Today
Drivers, take note: W Bijou at N Spruce is closed while crews repair a natural gas leak. Westbound drivers on W Bijou will need to detour north onto N Spruce before the intersection or take alternate routes via the Uintah or Cimarron exits off I-25.
According to Colorado Springs Utilities, repairs are expected to continue through today, so be sure to drive carefully near the area and help keep the crews safe while they work.

🥶 Frostbite Warning: What You Need To Know
We’ve all been there—thinking we can quickly clear the snow or run outside to clear the porch real quick without gloves, only to feel that stinging cold set in faster than expected. It’s a harsh reminder of how important it is to protect ourselves from frostbite in these frigid temps. Frostbite can sneak up quickly, especially when temperatures dip into the danger zone.
If you suspect frostbite, UCHealth’s Frostbite and Burn Center suggests taking immediate steps: first, get out of the cold and prevent further exposure. Rewarm the affected area in warm (not hot) water for 15–30 minutes, keep it elevated to reduce swelling, and take over-the-counter pain relief like ibuprofen if needed. Walking on frostbitten feet or toes can make things worse, so avoid that if possible. As we brace for artic blast weather the next few days, remember to bundle up and stay safe—your fingers and toes will thank you!

🚔 Fighting Drugs While Saving Taxpayer Money
El Paso County’s new incinerator at the Sheriff’s Evidence Facility is a game-changer in the fight against illegal drugs. Recently used to destroy over 165 pounds of marijuana and 160 plants, the incinerator replaces costly private contractors, saving taxpayer dollars while safely removing dangerous substances from circulation.
They say it’s eco-friendly design ensures pollutants aren’t released into the air, and it’s available for use by other law enforcement agencies, broadening its community impact. This milestone strengthens efforts to combat illegal drug activity and keep neighborhoods safer. Full Story
