đźš— Icy Roads Won’t Melt Anytime Soon

Icy Roads

Even with little snow overnight, the roads in Colorado Springs remain snow-packed and icy due to freezing temperatures that is contributing to black ice and preventing any significant thaw. Snow plow crews were focusing on clearing key roadways to improve safety, but the icy conditions will persist on secondary roads, making travel slower than usual.

Drivers should allow extra time, maintain safe distances, and stay alert, especially with below zero and single digit temps. Evening crews reassess road conditions to keep ahead of the weather. Full Story

🌡 More Families Turning to LEAP for Heat

Colorado’s Low-Income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP)

Colorado’s Low-Income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP) is stepping up to help families stay warm this winter. As extreme cold is here, applications for heating assistance are up 5% compared to last year, with El Paso County approving 7,000 out of 12,000 applications so far.

LEAP helps cover a portion of heating costs and provides repairs or replacements for essential heating equipment. Open to those meeting income guidelines, this program ensures warmth and comfort during the coldest months.
