🚍 The Local Motive's Curated Adventures: More Than Just a Ride
The story of The Local Motive Party Bus begins with a love story—a love for Colorado Springs, for community, and between Johnny and Amanda Joy. Johnny, a fourth-generation native, has deep roots in the Springs. Inspired by personal challenges and experiences, he envisioned bringing people together.
After the original Local Motive closed—where they had once celebrated Amanda's unforgettable birthday—the Joys couldn't bear to let those memories end. They revived it in 2024, purchasing the retired bus to create new celebrations for others.
Imagine this: you and your friends, both old and new, sharing laughter while exploring the city's hidden treasures. Discover a charming local art gallery, a creative space brimming with local talent, or sample decadent creations at a beloved artisanal chocolatier. From brewery tours to seasonal adventures, each outing on their two custom buses (up to 46 passengers) is crafted for lasting memories and new connections.
Upcoming events include a Galentine's Crawl 💕, a Valentine's Day 🥂 "THE Ultimate Date Night," and the popular Wine Ride 🍷. A perfect way to unwind and reconnect!
As owners, Johnny builds relationships with local businesses, ensuring authentic experiences. Amanda's meticulous planning guarantees a seamless adventure. Sit back, relax, and let them take care of everything. Meanwhile, their professional team provides top-notch service in a comfortable, enjoyable environment.
The Joys also warm hearts through community initiatives, including holiday toy drives. They've created a space for everyone to explore Colorado Springs in style.

🔊 Stricter Noise Rules for Ford Amphitheater
In response to community feedback, Colorado Springs has finalized a new sound mitigation agreement with Ford Amphitheater owner VENU, introducing stricter noise monitoring and penalties for exceeding limits. Five monitoring stations, including three new ones in nearby neighborhoods, will track concert noise, and any readings above six decibels over the limit will result in fines.
VENU has also committed to building additional sound barriers, with construction required to be completed this year. A limited noise hardship permit has been approved for 2025, applying only to Polaris Pointe. City officials stress that this agreement aims to balance residents' concerns with the benefits of a vibrant entertainment scene.

🎓 New Program Gives At-Risk Students Hope
Colorado Springs School District 11 is opening the Ascend Center at Galileo Middle School to provide at-risk students with essential support. This program will bring together educators, counselors, parents, nonprofits, and community leaders to help students struggling with schoolwork, legal troubles, or challenges at home.
By creating a collaborative space for solutions, the district hopes to give these students a better chance at success. The center is expected to open next month, offering much-needed resources to those who need extra guidance. Full Story

🚧 Briargate Traffic Headaches? Here’s What Went Wrong
A broken fire hydrant line at Briargate and Rangewood caused weeks of lane closures, leading to frustration from residents. CSU admitted a work order error caused delays by incorrectly classifying the issue as a lower priority.
After hearing concerns, they’ve revamped their repair system with a second review process to ensure timely fixes. Repairs are now complete, with final cleanup still underway. CSU apologized for the delay and thanked the community for its patience, emphasizing that citizen feedback led to improvements in how future repairs will be handled. Full Story

🚨 What Happened on Dublin Blvd Yesterday?
If you were near Dublin and North Academy yesterday, you may have noticed road closures and a police presence. Authorities responded to a family disturbance report around 2:10pm, leading to a shelter-in-place order as they investigated. Initially, officers believed the suspect was inside refusing to cooperate, but they later determined the individual was already outside.
The suspect was arrested without further incident, and roads reopened by 3:35 pm. While brief, it was a reminder of how quickly things can escalate—and resolve—thanks to swift police response. Full Story
