🚧 3 Major Road Closures This Week—See If They Affect You

Marksheffel Rd Closures

Drivers on Marksheffel should prepare for overnight closures today through Feb 5, between Dublin and Stetson Hills Blvd. Crews will be placing temporary concrete barriers, and traffic will be detoured via Peterson Rd. Construction in this area will continue through late 2026, so more disruptions are expected in the future.

Park Vista South Drainage Project

A major drainage improvement project in Park Vista South begins today, bringing long-term changes to local roads. Part of Siferd Blvd will be permanently closed, and Hopeful Dr will shut down for about nine months this year when a new bridge is installed. Drivers should plan for detours and expect construction impacts through late 2026.

25th St Bridge in Old Colorado City

Starting today, the 25th St bridge at Naegele Rd will close for four weeks as part of a maintenance project. This closure will affect drivers in Old Colorado City, as well as those using the Midland Trail, which runs along the bridge. Detours will be in place via 21st St and Colorado Ave.

Colorado Springs Police Department’s Victim Advocacy Unit (VAU) is accepting volunteer applications for those interested in helping crime victims navigate crisis situations. Volunteers provide emotional support, guidance, and resources to individuals affected by crimes covered under Colorado’s Victim Rights Act.

Selected volunteers will receive 40 hours of specialized training through the VAU Volunteer Victim Advocate Training Academy from April to May, with evening classes twice a week. This hands-on training prepares volunteers to assist with crisis intervention, safety planning, and connecting victims with essential services. Applications are due by March 1, and all applicants must pass a background check and polygraph. Full Story

King Soopers Workers May Strike Soon

Union workers at King Soopers in Colorado Springs have voted to authorize a strike, citing unfair labor practices and dissatisfaction with working conditions. This decision follows similar votes from employees in other Colorado cities, increasing pressure on the grocery chain.

While King Soopers says it remains focused on fair wages and affordable prices, the union argues that workers are being mistreated and that negotiations haven’t addressed key concerns. The exact timing and locations of the strike will be announced later, leaving both employees and shoppers waiting to see what happens next. Full Story
