🎖️ Artifacts Wanted for a Memorial Bell

The Honor Bell Foundation, known for its ceremonial bell that tolls at veterans’ funerals, is creating a second bell to serve Pikes Peak National Cemetery and nearby sites. This new bell will contain embedded military artifacts—medals, badges, and keepsakes from Colorado veterans—to symbolize their service and sacrifice. The foundation is now calling on the community to help by donating meaningful items from veterans who lived or served in Colorado. Full Story
😷 Surprising COS Neighborhood Health Risks

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) has launched EnviroScreen 2.0, an updated map that shows how pollution and environmental factors impact health across the state. The tool highlights areas most affected—such as Denver, Colorado Springs, Pueblo, and Greeley—while also supporting stronger permitting rules that require additional air monitoring and pollution modeling.
Beyond accountability, the map helps communities identify health concerns and access resources to address issues like asthma and heart disease. Full Story
🧩 Piecing Together Traffic Tragedies
The Major Crash Team in Colorado Springs plays a crucial role in investigating fatal and serious injury accidents, using cutting-edge technology to reconstruct scenes and determine contributing factors. Their work helps provide closure to affected families while also influencing citywide safety measures.
Investigators spend hours meticulously analyzing crash sites, collecting evidence, and reviewing surveillance footage, with some cases taking weeks to fully investigate. Beyond solving individual cases, their research identifies trends that lead to safer roads—whether it’s adjusting speed limits, enhancing lighting, or improving driver awareness. Through their efforts, they aim to prevent future tragedies and make local roadways safer for all.
