🏛️ What’s Open & Closed on Presidents’ Day Today

Colorado Springs will observe Presidents’ Day today, with many city offices and facilities closed, including the City Administration Building, Municipal Court, and community centers. Essential services like fire and police stations will remain open, and public transit will run as usual.
If you're looking for ways to enjoy the holiday, Garden of the Gods, Pikes Peak (weather permitting), and local golf courses will be open. Some areas in Garden of the Gods may have trail closures due to ongoing construction, so check ahead before heading out.
🌩️ Hail, Fire & Insurance Shake-Up in Colorado

With home insurance rates up 57% since 2018, Colorado lawmakers are working on relief. One bill already introduced would reward homeowners and communities for wildfire mitigation and create a first-in-the-nation wildfire catastrophe program to lower premiums.
Another bill is in development to further address affordability. While these solutions are still in progress, officials urge homeowners to invest in home resilience now to better protect against hail, wildfires, and rising insurance costs. Full Story
💡 What’s Mayor Yemi Fighting for in D.C.?

Mayor Yemi is strengthening Colorado Springs' federal connections, recently speaking with White House officials about key city priorities. He and other local leaders are actively involved in national advocacy efforts, ensuring the city has a voice on issues like housing, infrastructure, and public safety. With the city's growth, these efforts help secure vital resources and keep Colorado Springs positioned for success.

🍞 Hidden Health Perks of This Bread Over Others

Sourdough stands out as one of the healthiest breads due to its natural fermentation process, which makes it easier to digest, supports gut health, and enhances nutrient absorption. Unlike conventional bread, it has a lower glycemic index, helping to prevent energy crashes. *Source
However, not all sourdough is the same—many store-bought versions lack the full fermentation process, meaning fewer benefits. For the best quality, seek out artisan sourdough from local bakeries or farmers markets—or try making your own!
