🚧 Academy Closures: Plan Your Route

South Academy is set for temporary closures as part of a CDOT widening project, with northbound lanes shutting down today through Wed (7am-4:30 pm affecting your daytime commute) and southbound lanes closed from Feb 28 through Mar 3 (7pm-4:30am.)
Additional closures on Maxwell St and I-25 will add to the disruption. Detours will reroute drivers via US Highway 85/87 and Bradley Rd, and while delays are expected, these improvements are part of a broader effort to enhance traffic flow and safety. As with any major road project, patience is key—but in the end, smoother and safer commutes are the goal.

With government agencies focused on cutting costs, he doesn’t see a $2 billion relocation making sense at this time.
However, with shifting political priorities and new legislation on the table, there’s no telling how this will unfold. For now, Space Command stays—but as we’ve seen before, government decisions can take unexpected turns. Full Story
📚 A Surprising New Chapter for Rockrimmon

When Rockrimmon Library closed, many thought that was the end of an era—but the community had other plans. Volunteers quickly organized “Reading at the Rock,” a temporary library inside Christ the King Lutheran Church, where residents can once again browse books and reconnect. The response has been overwhelming, with so many donations that organizers had to pause accepting more.
While this isn’t a permanent solution, it’s a heartwarming example of community spirit keeping a cherished space alive. Meanwhile, Pikes Peak Library District is also stepping in, rolling out a bookmobile service every Friday at Wilson Ranch Park to keep books within reach. Full Story
