🌿 Less Work, More Green—Low-Water Lawn

The Native Grass Lawn Program helps homeowners create a water-wise, low-maintenance yard by providing free native grass seed, efficient sprinkler nozzles, and expert support. Participants can join in-person workshops or complete online lessons at their own pace to learn how to successfully grow a natural lawn.
The program is best suited for those with sunny yards who are willing to grow grass from seed. Registration is limited to Colorado Springs-area residents, with incentives for local utility customers.

🏕️ Summer Adventure? Get Your Permit!

Rocky Mountain National Park's summer wilderness backpacking permits open for online reservations tomorrow, March 1 at 8am. A physical permit and overnight dashtag are required and must be picked up in person before heading into the backcountry. Campfires are prohibited, and all food must be secured in a bear-resistant container.
To increase your chances of getting a permit, log into your Recreation.gov account ahead of time, prepare multiple itinerary options, and be ready to book quickly.
😲 Fast Food Fallout: Del Taco’s Sudden Shutdown

Yesterday, Del Taco shut down all its Colorado Springs locations, along with 18 others in the state, following financial struggles and a terminated franchise agreement. The closures, which came suddenly, left employees without jobs and customers without their favorite fast-food tacos. While Del Taco says the shutdown is temporary, no reopening date has been announced. Full Story

🥾 Wolf Lake Scenic Stroll Might Be Your New Favorite
Wolf Lake in northern Colorado Springs is a great in-town retreat for a peaceful walk or run. The 0.67-mile paved loop around the lake is dry and ready for visitors, with longer trails available for those who want to explore more.
On clear days, you’ll get a beautiful glimpse of Pikes Peak, making this an easy yet rewarding spot to enjoy fresh air. While the main restrooms aren’t open yet, a porta-potty is available near the playground. Leashed dogs are welcome, so bring your pup and take in the scenery!
