🚧 Detours Ahead! Marksheffel Roadwork Begins

Marksheffel will be closed overnight tonight and tomorrow night from 7pm to 5:30am for lane realignment, with detours directing traffic to Peterson Rd.

Ryker Peak Dr will also close at Marksheffel starting tonight through June for intersection work, though local access will be available from Stetson Hills Blvd. Drivers can text IMPROVE to 866-762-3640 for real-time updates.

🚀 She’s Heading to Space—One of Our Own!

Nichole Ayers, a Woodland Park and Air Force Academy graduate, is set to launch into space as part of NASA’s SpaceX Crew-10 mission. A highly skilled F-22 pilot, she credits her Pikes Peak roots for inspiring her journey.

She and her crew will conduct over 200 experiments aboard the ISS during their four-month mission. Launch is scheduled for Wed, March 12 at 5:48pm MT, and while she’s prepared for the challenges of space, she’s also looking forward to enjoying a favorite chocolate-peanut butter snack in zero gravity! 🔥 Training for the Fires We Hope Never Come

El Paso County firefighters came together for a full day of hands-on wildfire training at the Golden Eagle Campground this weekend, reinforcing teamwork and readiness for the ever-present fire danger in Southern Colorado. The SOCO Wildland Fire Team, made up of volunteers from multiple departments, worked through real-world scenarios using chainsaws, hoses, and fire-line techniques.

The training is critical—last year, crews who participated were called into action just a day later. With fire season always in motion, these firefighters are sharpening their skills to protect our community. Full Story
