🔥 Arson Suspect Arrested After 30th St Fire

A grass fire broke out near 30th Street and Garden of the Gods Road yesterday, quickly spreading across 20 acres and threatening three homes. Fire crews acted fast, keeping the flames from reaching any structures, and no evacuations were needed.
The fire originated near a makeshift campsite, and authorities later arrested 48 year old suspect, Adam Gilmour on arson charges. While the fire is out, the Palmer Mesa Trail has restricted access. Thanks to the rapid response from CSFD, the community avoided what could have been a far more dangerous situation.

🏛️ El Paso County’s Big Community Shift

El Paso County is streamlining critical services with the creation of the Department of Community Resources, integrating Environmental Services, Justice Services, and Veteran Services under one umbrella.
Vernon Stewart, a Marine Corps veteran with a strong background in public service, has been named Executive Director. His leadership will enhance collaboration and ensure more effective delivery of resources, from environmental health programs to justice alternatives and veteran support. With this new structure, the county aims to provide a more efficient, connected system for residents in need.
⚠Hidden Tracker at a Local Park—Are You Safe?

A day at Fred McKown Park, (northeast side near Austin Bluffs and Rangewood Dr) turned concerning when a Colorado Springs family found an Apple AirTag inside a toddler’s toy car. The device, commonly used for tracking lost items, has also been linked to privacy concerns. Uncertain of how it got there, the child’s uncle destroyed the device and filed a police report. The family had purchased the toy new, ruling out previous owners.
Apple provides tools to detect and disable unwanted tracking, but cases often go unreported. The family is urging parents to check their children’s belongings and stay vigilant. Full Story

🍬 Irish Potato Candy

Recipe by delish
In honor of St Patrick’s Day coming up I thought these were pretty interesting. Apparently they originated from the Philadelphia area.🤷‍♀️ Are you going to give them a try?
Don’t worry, this confection only looks like cute little potatoes, and actually contains no spuds at all. Imagine the texture of a chocolate truffle but with cream cheese, coconut, and vanilla instead. The outside is coated in ground cinnamon, giving it an uncanny likeness to the real thing.
