🦉 Join Our COS Bird-Loving Tribe: Community and Nature Unite
Does the symphony of birdsong beckon you to bask in nature's simple pleasures? Wild Birds Unlimited transforms that call into a backyard reality. Lifelong customer-turned-co-owner Heather Weber-Langvardt has cultivated a thriving haven for birding enthusiasts and nature lovers alike at this 2023 WBFI Retailer of the Year.
Located at 2450 Montebello Square Dr, Wild Birds Unlimited is a community cornerstone brimming with local artistry and expert knowledge. Beyond stocking premium bird feeders and seed, the shop showcases intricate wood carvings, photography, and more to appreciate our local outdoors in novel ways.
A storefront accident in December when a car crashed into the front door led to an unexpected transformation - where temporary repairs were needed, a beautiful mural now adds to the shop's artistic charm while permanent repairs are underway.
Heather and co-owner Shelley Weber, her mother, have carried on the 30-year legacy of this store, with heartfelt dedication. While Shelley continues to juggle her career, Heather stands as the store’s soul, blending lifelong passion with proprietary insights. Her enthusiasm intertwines the store’s rich history with new offerings and community partnerships.
With events like live raptor meet-and-greets and lending libraries for avid explorers and International adventurers, Wild Birds Unlimited nurtures birds and neighbors alike. They've been recognized for their community spirit and educational outreach through partnerships with local nonprofits.
Heather wants to remind you that with spring migration approaching, now is the perfect time to prepare! Stock up on high-energy foods like suet and ensure fresh water sources are available to welcome these seasonal visitors.
So, if you seek to transform your yard into an birding sanctuary, or desire unique, Colorado-proud gifts, a visit here is a step into natural wonder. Visit, call (719) 596-1819 or explore their website to join the Wild Birds Unlimited family in appreciating the beauty around us. Let your heart take flight alongside their flock.

🔦 Late-Night Power Outage—Were You Affected?

Approximately 1,400 residents in southern Colorado Springs, particularly in the Stratmoor/Security/Widefield and Cheyenne Blvd areas, lost power last night. Crews worked quickly to restore service, with nearly all homes reconnected by 1am.
A few smaller outages remained, but utilities assured residents they were making final repairs. The outage map didn’t always reflect live updates, but teams worked through the night to get power back on as soon as possible.
🛑 Road Closures & Travel Warnings—Stay Safe

Dangerous road conditions forced the closure of major highways started last night, stranding some drivers and disrupting travel. I-25 was shut down in both directions just north of Monument after a stalled vehicle blocked traffic, while Hwy 24 closed between Colorado Springs and northeast El Paso County due to unsafe conditions.
You can view the local CO Trips map to see what may still be closed. Authorities advised drivers to avoid travel in affected areas while crews worked to clear the roads and restore safe driving conditions. Full Story
🌬 Click for late starts being reported as some parts of El Paso County are getting blizzard like conditions and some are getting almost nothing.
🍕 Luigi’s Bids Farewell After 67 Years

Luigi’s, a family-owned Italian restaurant in Colorado Springs, has closed after 67 years in business. The owners shared that they chose to step away, not out of hardship, but to enjoy a slower pace of life.
Instead of a public farewell, they quietly spent their final week serving longtime regulars. The building has been sold, though the business itself remains available for new ownership, offering hope that Luigi’s may one day make a comeback. For now, the family expresses deep gratitude to their employees, customers, and community for decades of support.
